HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 90-70 - 11/10/1970 - SUPPORT PROPOSED 1970 IL CONSTIT CHANGES RESOLUTION NO, 90-70 WHEREAS, the present Constitution of the State of Illinois was adopted One Hundred (100) years ago to cope with an agricultural oriented State, WHEREAS , the State of Illinois is now principally an urban oriented State, WHEREAS, urbanization is expected to continue at an increasing rate in the State, WHEREAS , governmental units serving the residents, businesses and industries of the State , need in a modern society, modern tools, power, authority, and freedom to effectively service the public, WHEREAS, delegates to a duly called Constitutional Convention have developed a new State Constitution to meet the contemporary and future needs of our governmental units, WHEREAS , the Proposed 1970 Constitution will be the subject of a Special State-wide Election on Tuesday, December 15, 1970. NOW, BE IT RESOLVED , by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook and DuPage Counties, Illinois, do hereby urge all voting age citizens in Elk Grove Village to vote "Yes" on December 15, 1970 on the Proposition "Do you approve the proposed 1970 Constitution?".
