HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 13-65 - 2/18/1965 - COMMEND STATE HIGHWAY POLICERESOLUTION NO. 13 - 65 A RESOLUTICN COMMENDING THE STATE OF ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, THE ILLINOIS STATE HIGHWAY POLICE, AND THE TRAINING STAFF OF THE ILLINOIS STATE HIGHWAY POLICE WHICH HAS TRAINED THE ENTIRE ELK GROVE VILLAGE POLICE DEPARTMENT IN THE HANDLING OF.CRQWDS AND CIVIL DISTURBANCES. WHEREAS, the State of 1111hois Department of Public Safety and the Illinois State Highway Poiieej through its training staff, has processed each member of the Elk Grove Villsge Police Department through their 40 -hour course in the handling of crowds and civil disturbances; and, WHEREAd, the course of Instruction, through lectures films, mock demonstrations, and hand-to-hand dombat, was under the competent leadership of Captain Clyde W. Oliver) Jr►) with the able assistance of the following staff members: Corporal Herbert D. Brown Trooper Robert L. Copper Trooper Charles G. McCarthy Trooper Douglas P. Mikus Trooper Francis M. Pazera Trooper William Powell Trooper William F. Ritter Trooper Robert; W. Swalwell; and, WHEREAS, such cooperation and preparedness exemplifies the high ideals and goals of professional law enforcement: NOW, THEREFCRE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, in the Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois; Section 1. That the Village of Elk Grove Village, by and through its elected officials, does hereby commend the State of Illinois Department of Public Safety, and its Director, Joseph E. Ragen; and the Illinois State Highway Police, and its Superintendent, William H. Morris; for their generous and farsighted contribution to the pre- paring of municipal police departments for more efficient cooperation throughout the Chicagoland area in dealing with crowds, riots, and civil disturbances. t lin ., Section 2. That Captain Clyde W. Oliver,,Jr., and his Staff, afore mentioned by name, be made and awarded individual certificates proclaiming each to be an Honorary Citizen of the Village of Elk Grove Vi11Age; ands thereby, be commended for their consistant devotion tc duty and tb the high ideals of professional law enforce- ment. Section 3. That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to send certified copies of this reeoiution to the Director of the State of Illinois Department of Public Safety, Joseph E. Ragen ; to the Superintendent of the Illinois State Highway Police, William H. Morris; and to Captain Clyde W. Oliver, Jr., and each member of his Staff.
