HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 10-62 - 6/4/1962 - ESTABLISH YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEERESOUUTIOJ ,JO. /40'L 'W' A RESOC,UTIO.J ESTABI4I3HI.JG A YOUTH AD1130RY COMMITTEE WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village, through its Corporate Authorities, recognizes the responsibility of and need for protecting the public health, safety and welfare, and, WHEREAS, Public Safety is a term,wide in scone but including the police functions, and, mHF,RLA3, one of the police functions has been construed to include providing methods of reducing and/or preventing juvenile delinquency or, crime and other public problems involving the youth of our community and surrounding area, and, WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the Village to establish an advisory committee on youth activities, and, WHEREAS, a number of public spirited citizens have expressed and demon- strated an interest in working with the Village Board in the area of youth activities, .JOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois: Section 1. That there is hereby established a Youth Advisory Committee of Elk Grove Villaga for the purpose of promoting youth welfare in this community. Section 2. That the said Committee shall consist of seven members appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Village Board. Section 3. That the Youth Advisory Committee shall: (a) Make studies and surveys of community conditions and problems affecting youth. (b) Recommend plans for the improvement of opportunities for the wholesome development of youth in Elk Grove Village; propose necessary action for the protection of children from exposure to harmful influences and conditions; propose plans for pre- vention of delinquency and for development of services for the rehabilitation of delinquent children. (c) Cooperate with governmental bodies and public and private services affecting the welfare of youth. (d) Request assistance and gather data from governmental departments and public and private agencies as may be reasonably necessary to carry out its work; create subcommittees, composed of members or non-members of said Committee, to aid and assist in the work Of the Committee. >ection 4. That the Youth Commission will work in close cooperation with the Village Board, the Police D-oartment, the Police Magistrate of the Village of Elk Grove Village, and shall report plans and accomplishments quarterly to the Village Board. Section 5. That in December of each yoar, the Youth Advisory Committee shall prepare and submit to the Village Board as annual report of its operations during the preceding fiscal year, along with a statement of projected plans recommended for action by the Village Board and a request for allocations of necessary funds.
