HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 20-60 - 12/29/1960 - CANVASSING RESOLUTIONRESOLUTION NOi-6 CANVAiSING RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook County, Illinois, heretofoie on the 28th day of November, 1960, did adopt an ordinance providing for the submission to the legal voters of said Village, at a special election duly called and held in and for said Village on the 17th day of December, 1960, the following question: "Shall bonds in the amount of WOOOO, be issued by the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook County, Illinois, for the purpose of ac- quiring a site, constructing and equipping a now public library thereon, and acquiring the existing building now used as a public library in said Village, maturing serially on Febbuary 1 in each of the years and in amounts as follows$ $20;600 -- 1963 through 1968 $x25000 -- 1969 through 1974 $30,000 -- 1975 through 1979 bearing interest at the rate of not to exceed 5P ;and WHEREASI the President and Board of Trustees of said Village did cause notice of said special election to be given by the Village Clerk not more than thirty (30) days nor less than fifteen (15) days prior to the date of said s*tial election by publishing notice thereof once on the lst day of December, 19603 in the Elk Grove Herald, the same being a news- paper published in and having a general circulation within said village, which notice as so published did specify the places whereat such election was to be held, the time of opening and closing of the polls, and the question to be voted upon, copy of said notice with affidavit of publication attached thereto, being now on file and a part of the official records of the President and Board of Trustees of this Village and being in words and figures as follows: (Insert newspaper clipping with publisher's affidavit) ;and WHEREAS, the said election was duly and legally held and con- ducted by the proper persons so appointed to act as judges for said special electioz., and the questions submitted at said election were submitted upon proper ballots, said ballots being in words and figures as follows (Insert one of the official ballots for each precinct) ;and WHEREAS, the election returns have been presented to and have been canvassed by the President and Board of Trustees of said Village: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT Aim IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook County, Illinois, as follows: Section 1 That the total number of votes cast at said special election, as shown by the poll list, was: Election Precinct Number 1 5^9 Election Precinct Number 2 575 1081, -1- Res. #, - 60 Section 2 That on the question of issuing bonds in the amount of 5420 for the purpose of acquiring a site, constructing and equipping a new public library thereon, and acquiring the existing building now used as a public library in and for the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook County, Illinois, the votes cast thereon were as follows: Election Ballots found blakk, Precinct Total Cast Yes No spoiled or defectively marked and not counted #1 569 101 401 7 #2 575 108 462 5 Total 1684 209 863 12 Section 3 That it is hereby found, determined and declared of record that -TIT of issuing bonds in the amount of W0,000 for the purpose of acquiring a site, constructing and equipping a new public library thereon, and acquiring the existing building now used as a public library in and for the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook County, Illinois did not receive the approval of a majority of the electors of the Village voting on said question at said special election and that said question has not been legally approved and carried. Section 4 That all orders or resolutions in conflict herewith be and the same are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed, and that this resolution be in full force and effect immediately and forthwith upon its adoption.
