AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3169 OF THE VILLAGE
CODE BY ADDING THERETO THE TITLE MAYOR FOR THE TITLE
VILLAGE PRESIDENT WITH RESPECT TO VARIOUS DUTIES
BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk
Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That Chapter 5 of Title I of the Village Code, which Chapter was
partially amended by Ordinance No. 3169, be further amended by adding thereto the
following provisions to Chapter 5:
1-5-4 Duties:
A. Generally: The Mayor shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the
Village, and shall perform all such duties as may be required by
Statute or Ordinance. The Mayor shall have general supervision of the
Village Manager, over all of the employees of the Village and shall
have the power and authority to inspect all books and records kept by
any village officer or employee at any reasonable time.
B. Designation of Duties: Whenever there is a question as to the
respective powers or duties of any appointed officer of the Village, the
issue shall be settled by the Mayor, who shall have the power to
delegate to any such officer any duty which is to be performed when
no specific officer has been directed to perform the duty.
1-5-5 Mayor of the Board: The Mayor shall be the presiding officer of
all regular and special meetings of the Board of Trustees and at all times
when the Board meets as a Committee of the Whole.
1-5-6 Mayor Pro Tem: During the temporary absence or disability of the
Mayor, the Board of Trustees shall elect one of its members to act as
Mayor Pro Tem who, during the absence or disability of the Mayor, shall
perform the duties pertaining to the office.
Section 2: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and approval according to law.
