HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 3126 - 5/8/2007 - REMODEL TEMPORARY POLICE STATION/321 BONDORDINANCE NO. 3126 AN ORDINANCE WAIVING THE FORMAL BID PROCESS AND AUTHORIZING THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER, MTI, TO SOLICIT BID PROPOSALS FOR THE REMODELING OF THE TEMPORARY POLICE STATION LOCATED AT 321 BOND STREET, ELK GROVE VILLAGE WHEREAS, on April 26, 2007, the Village acquired an existing building located at 321 Bond Street, Elk Grove Village for the temporary relocation of the Elk Grove Village Police Department; and WHEREAS, extensive remodeling of the building is required in order to suit the purposes of a temporary police department; and WHEREAS, the construction manager of the Village has advised that the remodeling project needs to be commenced on or before June 1, 2007 in order to avoid substantial additional construction costs for the new administration/public safety building, the construction of which requires the vacating of the premises by the police department no later than July 1, 2007; and WHEREAS, in order for the construction manager to meet the necessary timeframe set forth herein, it is necessary to waive the formal bidding process and authorize MTI, the Village's Construction Manager, to solicit bid proposals and award bids to contractors with the lowest acceptable bid proposal for the remodeling project at 321 Bond Street, Elk Grove Village and further to waive the requirement for a performance bond associated with said remodeling contracts. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois as follows: Section 1: That is deemed urgent and necessary for the Village to waive the formal bidding process to hire contractors for the remodeling of the temporary police facility located at 321 Bond Street; Elk Grove Village and to authorize MTI; the Village's Construction Manager; to solicit bid proposals for said remodeling and select contractors who have submitted the lowest responsible bid proposals in an amount not to exceed $500,000 for the entire remodeling project. Section 2: That the -Village hereby waives the Village requirement for a performance bond associated with said construction due to the fact that the performance of each contractor will be coordinated with and under the supervision of MTI. Section 3: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect and adopted as an emergency matter this 81h day of May 2007. VOTE: AYES: 5 NAYS: 0 ABSENT: 1 PASSED this 8`h day of May 2007.
