A RESOLUTION AMENDING FEES FOR PLAN REVIEW, INSPECTION, AND
CONSTRUCTION PERMITS
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois, as follows:
Section 1: The provisions of Resolutions No. 15-92 and 34-92 are hereby
rescinded in their entirety.
Section 2: BUILDING PLAN REVIEW FEE The applicant for a building
permit for single-family residence construction, remodeling, alteration, repair or for a
detached structure shall pay the following fees for the purpose of examining and
reviewing plans and specifications:
Plan Review for each set of plans for single-family residence - $100.00
Plan Review for each set of plans for single-family residence for alteration,
remodeling, addition, deck or detached accessory structure (not including shed) -
$45.00
The applicant for a building permit for any other type of construction shall pay
fees for the purpose of examining and reviewing plans and specifications based
upon the volume of the overall structure. The volume of all structures shall be
measured between the lowest floor of the structure (including basement) and the
underside of the roof deck. The following fees shall apply:

*Plan Review fees for Assembly, High Hazard and Institutional Uses and shall be 1.5
times the Base Plan Review Fee.
*When Mechanical and/or Plumbing Code Review is required, the Plan Review Fee shall
be 1.5 times the Base Plan Review Fee.
The MINIMUM fee for reviewing plans and specifications for interior alterations and
remodeling for OTHER than single-family residences shall be - $75.00.
Any additional and/or exceptional expenses incurred by the Village for Plan Review
NOT covered by the above fees shall be paid for by the applicant.
Section 3: BUILDING PERMIT AND INSPECTION FEES
Minimum Permit Fee: The minimum permit fee for any building, electrical,
plumbing, mechanical or other construction permit shall be $25.00.
Building Construction or Demolition: For ALL classifications - $10.00 for each
$1,000.00 of construction value.
The construction value for permit fee purposes shall not be less than the value
determined using the most current Building Valuation Data published by the
International Code Council.
Sign Fees:
1. Illuminated and non -illuminated signs - $10.00 for each $1,000.00 of
construction value plus $1.00 per square foot of sign surface area per face.
2. Temporary signs - $25.00 for a period not to exceed thirty (30) calendar days.
3. Annual inspection fee -$20.00
Swimming Pools: $10.00 for each $1,000.00 of construction value.
Electrical Fees:

a. For original installations in a single-family residence including all
circuits, fixtures, receptacles and equipment, the fee shall be:
0 to 499 square feet - $50.00
500 to 799 square feet - $60.00
800 to 1,599 square feet - $70.00
1,600 to 2,399 square feet - $80.00
2,400 to 2,999 square feet - $90.00
3,000 and over square feet - $100.00
b. In other than original single-family dwellings, the permit and
inspection fee for each nominal 15 ampere and 20 ampere two wire
circuit, including fixtures, sockets, receptacles and equipment shall be:

c. For the inspection of a 30 ampere fixed lighting circuit, the fee shall be
double the amount of the 15 or 20 ampere circuit fee.
d. Motors and other forms of power consuming devices. For each
electrical motor or power consuming device other than lighting circuits
the fee shall be as follows:

i. One motor or power consuming device - $10.00
ii. For each additional motor or power consuming device - $5.00

The fees for plumbing permits shall be $8.50 for each plumbing fixture.
Bathtubs, lavatories, water closets, sinks, laundry tubs, drinking fountains, shower
bases, urinals, and any other fixture requiring a trap shall be considered fixtures.
Mechanical Fees
$25.00 for each heating unit (furnace).
$25.00 for each cooling unit (air conditioner).
$25.00 for each water heater.
Fireplace
$10.00 for each $1,000.00 of construction value.

Certificate of Occupancy
Single-family residential additions, remodeling and garages - $25.00.
Single-family residential new original construction - $50.00.
All other classifications; additions, remodeling and detached structures - $50.00.
All other classifications; new original construction - $100.00.

Sheds

Lawn Irrigation Systems
All classifications - $10.00 for each $1,000.00 of construction value.
Building Permit Renewal/Extension
Fifty percent (50%) of the original building permit fee to extend the permit for a
period of six (6) months.
Storage Tanks
Above or below grade tank installation or removal (flammable and non-
flammable):
A. $150.00 for tanks up to 1,000 gallons.
B. $25.00 for each 1,000 gallons thereafter.
Fire Protection Systems
A. Fire Suppression Systems
a. $100.00 for the first 100 heads.
B. Standpipes

a. $50.00 for the first standpipe.
b. $10.00 for each additional standpipe.
C. Fire Pumps - $100.00 for any size pump.
D. Fire Alarm Systems (automatic or manual) - $100.00 for any size
system.
E. Partial Fire Protection Equipment Installation - $50.00 for each
system.
Elevator Inspections
The fees for the inspection of mechanical and electrical safety devices for
passenger and freight elevators, man lifts, moving stairs and dumbwaiters
shall be $60.00 per inspection. Inspections shall be performed two (2)
times each calendar year.
Reinspection Fee
Wherever in this Municipal Code inspections are required, and the work is
not ready for inspection, or due to incorrect or inaccurate information
given by the owner or agent of the premises a reinspection or additional
inspection is required, an additional fee of $50.00 per inspection shall be
charged.
Section 4: ENGINEERING PLAN REVIEW AND MATERIAL TESTING
FEES
No improvement as set forth in Section 8-9-1 of the Municipal Code shall be
constructed without an engineering plan relating thereto, which plan shall be
prepared by or under the direction of the Director of Engineering and Community
Development. In any case where plans and specifications shall be prepared by an
engineer other than the Director of Engineering, then and in that event, the
Director of Engineering and Community Development, or his duly designated
representative, shall review all plans and specifications and shall inspect the
improvements proposed to be made during the course of construction. The
applicant shall pay to the Village as and for the Village's cost for such plan
reviews and construction inspections, the sum of three percent (3%) of the
estimated cost of construction (based upon current, local estimates of average
construction costs) of all public and private improvements other than the building
structures.
All improvements constructed on public property intended to be dedicated for
public use shall be tested by the Director of Engineering and Community
Development. To defray the costs of material testing services, each permitee
constructing improvements shall pay a testing fee to the Village, which fee shall

be equal to one-half of one percent (1/2 of 1%) of the estimated cost of
construction of all public improvements. Construction costs shall be determined
as identified above.
Section 5: ENGINEERING PERMIT AND INSPECTION FEES
Minimum Permit Fee: The minimum permit and inspection fee for any
engineering, concrete, exterior plumbing, grading or other construction work shall
be $25.00.
Sidewalks
Single-family residential - $25.00. -
All others — three percent (3%) of the estimated cost of construction.
Driveways
Single-family residential - $40.00.
All others - three percent (3%) of the estimated cost of construction.
Driveway Aprons
Single-family residential - $40.00.
All others - three percent (3%) of the estimated cost of construction.
Driveway/Apron Overlays
Single-family residential - $25.00 each.
All others - three percent (3%) of the estimated cost of construction.
Curb and Gutter
Single-family residential - $30.00.
All others - three percent (3%) of the estimated cost of construction.
Patios
Single-family residential - $30.00.
All others - three percent (3%) of the estimated cost of construction.
Clean -outs (including associated pipe replacement)

Single-family residential - $40.00.
All others - three percent (3%) of the estimated cost of construction.
Sewer or Water Repair or Installation
Single-family residential - $40.00.
All others - three percent (3%) of the estimated cost of construction.
Sump Pump Connection
Single-family residential - $25.00.
All others - three percent (3%) of the estimated cost of construction.
Gradin
All classifications - three percent (3%) of the estimated cost of construction.
Reinspection Fee
Wherever in this Municipal Code inspections are required, and the work is not
ready for inspection, or due to incorrect or inaccurate information given by the
owner or agent of the premises a reinspection or additional inspection is required,
an additional fee of $50.00 per inspection shall be charged.
Section 6: That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and approval according to law.
