AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3091 AND AMENDING
CHAPTER 2 BOARD OF HEALTH AND COMMUNITY SERVICES OF TITLE 2
OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
BE IT ORDAINED, by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk
Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois pursuant to its authority as a Home
Rule Municipality, as follows:
Section 1: That Chapter 2 Board of Health and Community Services be and
the same are hereby deleted and a new Chapter 2 is hereby established which shall read
as follows:
Chapter 2 Health & Community Services Advisory Committee
2-2-1 Committee Created: There is hereby created a Health & Community
Services Advisory Committee which shall ultimately consist of nine (9) members
who shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Board of
Trustees and shall serve a term of four (4) years. Due to the present Board of
Health & Community Services with thirteen (13) members, the initial Committee
herein established shall be comprised of members of that Board who are
reappointed by the Mayor and shall therefore consist of more than nine (9)
members. Ultimately, as a result of resignation, retirement or non -appointment,
the members will decrease to and thereafter remain at nine (9). There shall be
appointed a Chairperson or Co -Chairpersons (2) by the Mayor with the advice and
consent of the Board of Trustees, and one of the members shall be a Village
Trustee.
2-2-2 Qualifications: No person shall be appointed to the Committee unless he
or she has demonstrated a sustained interest in community service and health or
has had professional training in said fields or related fields.
2-2-3 Powers, Duties and Functions: The Committee shall have the following
powers, duties and functions:
A. Make recommendations to the Mayor and Board of Trustees regarding
Programs and Ordinances necessary for the protection of the public health of the
Village.
B. Explore programs for Community Service.
C. Convene as necessary to review items, topics, or suggestions referred to them
by the Mayor and Board of Trustees and make recommendations therewith.
2-2-4 Compensation: No member of the Committee shall receive
compensation for any service performed.
Section 2: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect August 1, 2011.
