AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6-3-11-4-B OF THE ELK GROVE VILLAGE
CODE PERTAINING TO POLICE OFFICER ELIGIBILITY FOR REVIEW OF RED
LIGHT TRAFFIC CONTROL VIOLATIONS
WHEREAS, Elk Grove Village is an Illinois Home Rule Municipality and is authorized
to enact certain legislation pertaining to its government affairs; and
WHEREAS, Section 6-3-11-4-B currently requires a current or retired Elk Grove Village
Police Officer to review red light traffic control violations; and
WHEREAS, upon recommendation of the Police Department, the Corporate Authorities
find that amending said sections to permit the review by a retired officer from municipalities
other than Elk Grove in addition to retired Elk Grove Officers provides greater flexibility in the
review process.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That Section 6-3-11-4-13 of the Elk Grove Village Code be amended by
deleting the word "Village" after the word "retired" in both places in the first sentence of said
section so that said sentence reads, in part, as follows:
"A notice of violation associated with an automated traffic law violation shall require a
review of the associated recorded image by a Village Police Officer or retired Police
Officer or by the traffic compliance administrator, if the traffic compliance administrator
is a Village Police Officer or retired Police Officer..."
Section 2: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and approval according to law.
