AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6-6-8 "RULES FOR USE OF VILLAGE
PARKS" OF THE ELK GROVE VILLAGE CODE BY ADDING REGULATIONS FOR
PARKING AT LIONS PARK
WHEREAS, the Elk Grove Park District's parking lot at Lions Park, adjacent to Elk
Grove High School, has experienced an increase in usage by High School students; and
WHEREAS, the student parking has interfered with residents needing to park in the
Lions Park lot for participation in Park District activities — particularly activities which
commence after 4:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, as a result of the parking situation, the Park District has formally requested
that the Village enact and enforce certain parking regulations at the Lions Park parking lot; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Trustees, after reviewing the request of the Park
District, find and believe that the parking regulations as requested will help to resolve the
parking issue which currently exists.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That the Title of Section 6-6-8 "Rules For Use of Village Parks" be amended
to read 6-6-8 Regulations For The Use of Elk Grove Park District Property.
Section 2: That Section 6-6-8 be further amended by adding thereto a new sub -section
which shall read as follows:
G. Lions Park Parking Lot Regulations:
1. Except on days when Elk Grove High School is not in session, it shall be unlawful
to park any vehicle in the Lions Park parking lot for more than two (2) hours
between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. as designated and marked by signage
referencing said regulations.
2. Penalty/Permit Fee Credit: Any person violating the provisions of this Section shall
be subject to a fine of not less than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) nor more than five
hundred dollars ($500.00) for each offense. Pursuant to Section 1-4-4-1-C of the
Village Code, any "P" ticket issued will be for the minimum fee of twenty-five
dollars ($25.00). This fee, if paid by an Elk Grove High School student eligible to
buy a permit to park in the High School lot, can serve as a credit towards the two
hundred dollar ($200.00) permit fee, provided that the permit is purchased within
seven days from the date the "P" ticket is issued. Only one credit can be utilized for
each vehicle for which a High School parking lot permit is purchased.
Section 3: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized to publish this Ordinance in
pamphlet form.
Section 4: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage, approval and publication according to law.
