AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 5 ANIMALS AND ANIMAL CONTROL OF
TITLE 6 OF THE VILLAGE CODE BY ELIMINATING THE LICENSE
REQUIREMENTS FOR DOGS AND CATS
WHEREAS, in 1976, the Village Board, pursuant to Ordinance No. 1069, adopted
regulations designed to encourage responsible pet ownership which included the annual licensing
of dogs and cats: and
WHEREAS, many of the concerns which were addressed by the licensing process have
been eliminated or otherwise have come under the jurisdiction of the County and therefore staff
has recommended the elimination of pet licenses and the Board, after reviewing the
recommendation of staff, concurs with that recommendation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage as follows:
Section 1: That Section 6-5-4 Dog and Cat License and Section 6-5-12 which exempt
certain dogs from the licensing process be and the same are hereby repealed.
Section 2: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and approval according to law.
