TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE, ILLINOIS HELD AT THE CHARLES J. ZETTEK MUNICIPAL BUILDING, 901 WELLINGTON AVENUE ON TUESDAY MAY 09, 2006
Mayor Craig B. Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:38 p.m.
1. ROLL CALL:
Present: Mayor: Craig B. Johnson;
Trustees: Nancy J. Czarnik, Bart K. Dill, Patton L. Feichter, Samuel L. Lissner, James P. Petri, Chris Prochno
Also Present: Village Manager, Gary E. Parrin; Village Attorney, George B. Knickerbocker; and Village Clerk, Ann I. Walsh
A quorum was present.
2. INVOCATION
Reverend Jeremiah Clapper, Youth Pastor, Elk Grove Baptist Church, delivered the invocation.
The Mayor announced that Pastor Gertz of the Elk Grove Baptist Church would be retiring in the near future.
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting held on April 25, 2006 as submitted and dispense with the reading.

REPORT OF THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Mayor Johnson reported:
April 27, 2006 – The Interfaith Breakfast, with keynote speaker Mike Singletary, was well attended. Mr. Singletary said he was very impressed with the diversity of the community and
commented on how the community and churches work together. The breakfast was a part of the yearlong celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Elk Grove.
The month of May has been designated “Health Month”. On May 13th Open Houses will be held at both the Kenneth Young Center and Alexian Brothers Medical Center. Alexian Brothers will
be celebrating its 40th Anniversary on that date.
On Saturday, May 20, 2006, the Kenneth Young Center and Alexian Brothers Medical Center are hosting a 2.7mile Health Walk starting at the Pavilion. The route planned will pass by the
Centex raffle house.
The Community Blood Drive and a Health Fair took place last Saturday, May 6, 2006, at the Pavilion as part of the May Health Month 50th Anniversary events.
On April 27, 2006 the Mayor and Trustees Feichter and Petri attended a retirement recognition dinner in honor of Tom Rivera, Director of the Greater Woodfield Association. A presentation
was made to Mr. Rivera on behalf of the Village of Elk Grove.
May 5, 2006 – A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the Centex raffle house. Tours of the house can be taken every Saturday and Sunday, through July 2, 2006, from 11:00
a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Community groups and civic organizations volunteered to provide tours of the house on Saturday and Sundays. Raffle tickets are $50 a piece.
May 6, 2006 – Coffee with the Board was held in the Council Chambers at Village Hall. The next coffee is scheduled in November 2006.
Proclamation – Mayor Johnson proclaimed May 14 through May 20, 2006 as Emergency Medical Services Week.
50th Anniversary Calendar Raffle – Elk Grove Rotarians, Chief Steve Schmidt and Scott Bernholdt joined Mayor Johnson and drew the following $25.00 winners: J. Nelson-EGV, (5/9) James

Trustee Prochno, Trustees Feichter and Lissner attended the Silent Auction and Pancake Breakfast hosted by Boy Scout Troop 95 at the Elk Grove High School. The fundraiser was well attended.
Trustee Prochno reminded the audience that on Monday, May 29, 2006 at 10:45 a.m. the annual Memorial Day Ceremony would be held at the Park District Pavilion. The Elk Grove Baptist
Choir, members of the Elk Grove Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary, Elk Grove Big Band, special guests, a flag lowering ceremony with a possible surprise visit
will take place. In the event of inclement weather the ceremony will be moved inside the Park District Pavilion facility.
Trustee Feichter reported that on May 23, 2006 the Community Character Coalition would hold a Youth Celebration between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Charles J. Zettek Municipal Building.
Trustee Petri attended the Sister Cities Illinois State Convention in Springfield Illinois on April 28th and 29th. It was a very successful event and Elk Grove Sister City member, Frank
Lateano was elected to the Board of Directors.
Trustee Lissner reported on attendance at a special meeting of the Elk Grove Board of Health. Representatives from Alexian Brothers Medical Center, the American Cancer Society, and
the American Lung Association met with the Health Board to discuss the Village’s “no smoking” ordinance and various ways to use the funds raised through the increased tobacco license
rates.
Mayor Johnson stated he would like one-third of those funds to be designated for promotion of Elk Grove Village as a smoke free community. Smoke free youth and/or adult bowling event
was used as an example.
5. APPROVAL OF WARRANT
Motion to authorize payment of invoices as shown on the April 28, 2006 Accounts Payable Warrant in the amount of $172,929.42

6. CONSENT AGENDA
It was moved and seconded that the Consent Agenda of the May 9, 2006 Regular Meeting be approved as presented.
A. Township High School District 214/Waive fees – Grant a request to waive the Village’s vehicle sticker fee for the period May 1, 2006 through April 30, 2007 in the amount of $315.00.
B. Queen of the Rosary Church/Waive fees – Grant a request to waive Food Caterers License fee as part of their annual Bistro to be held on Friday, September 15 and Saturday, September
16, 2006 in the amount of $100; and
Grant a request to waive the temporary Class A liquor license fee for their annual Bistro to be held on Friday, September 15 and Saturday, September 16, 2006 in the amount of $2,900.
C. Queen of the Rosary Church/Waive fees – Grant a request to waive permit fees for on-site storm sewer installation in the amount of $500.
D. Thompson Elevator Inspection Service, Inc., Mount Prospect, IL – Increase an existing professional service contract (approved 6/21/05) for the semi-annual inspections of existing
elevators as well as plan review and inspection of new elevators in Elk Grove Village in an amount of $2,340, for a total contract not to exceed $12,440.
E. Rotary Club of Elk Grove Village – Authorize a $15,000 contribution to the 2006 RotaryFest event to take place from June 14 to June 18, 2006;
Authorize the Rotary Club to host a fireworks display on Saturday, June 17;
Waive all permits, licenses and associated fees for this event in the total amount of $2,775;
Provide street sweeping services for the parking lots at Elk Grove High School, Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Queen of the Rosary Church, and Rainbow Falls water park; and
Waive the permit fee for use of a fire hydrant for non-firefighting purposes.
F. Hewlett-Packard Corp., Omaha, NE – Award a purchase contract for the purpose of thirty-four (34) replacement desktop PC’s in an amount not to exceed $33,000.
G. ALSCO-American Industrial, Chicago, IL – Renew the existing contract (approved FY 02/03) for the rental of uniforms, linens and floor mats in an amount not to exceed $34,102.84.
