MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD
OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK
GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON JUNE 10, 1968
The Village Clerk, Eleanor G. Turner, called the meeting to order at
8:18 p.m. in the Municipal Building in said Village.
Upon the roll being called by the Clerk, the following Trustees answered
"PRESENT" - Ronald L. Chernick, George C. Coney, James R. Gibson, Eugene
V. Keith, Richard A. McGrenera; "ABSENT" - Charles J. Zettek, President
Jack D. Pahl. It was moved by Trustee Gibson and seconded by Trustee
Chernick to appoint Trustee Coney as Chairman Pro Tem. The motion was
voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the Village Clerk declared the
motion carried.
This is a continuation of the special meeting on June 5, 1968 to
consider the 1968/69 budget.
Trustee Zettek arrived at 8:45 p.m. President Pahl arrived at 9:25 p.m.
The Board discussed the budget beginning with page 62 and following
discussion the following changes were made:
Page 65 Add two (2) cadets and salary of $9,236.00 to budgeted
amount.
Page 66 Change trade-ins from three (3) to five (5) and from
X64,500.00 to $7,500.00.
Page 67 Delete International Conference amount of $520.00. Change
training from eight (8) to six (6) patrolmen and from
two (2) to four (4) cadets, amount changed from $1 ,720.00
to 41,290.00.
Page 71 Delete engineering aide amount $7,476.00. Change
stenographer from $5,316.00 to $2,658.00.
Page 72 Delete $500.00 for desks and chairs.
Page 73 Delete $330.00 for national conference.
Page 77 Budget $11 ,500.00 for professional service but appro-
priate $13,000.00.
Page 78 Budget for three (3) building inspectors but appropriate
for four (4) . Delete overtime on budget but appropriate
$1 ,000.00.
Page 79 Change five (5) to four (4) cars and trade-in from
$500.00 to $750.00 each, and radios from three (3) to
two (2) , making a total for motor vehicles - $9,300.00.
During the meeting, a discussion took place concerning the fact that
the Village is buying premium gasoline instead of regular for its
vehicles. The Manager was requested to look into this.
1jL Trustee McGrenera suggested that the Village President appoint a
committee to meet with the Fraternal Order of Police, Elk Grove Lodge
No. 35 prior to this budget's being approved to see whether or not
there are areas of concern to them. This group recently organized and
apparently they have some reason which may be concerned with the budgeted
amounts under consideration, Trustee McGrenera said. President Pahl
said he will take this suggestion under advisement.

The review of the budget at this meeting ended with page 79.
It was moved by Trustee Coney and seconded by Trustee Zettek that the
meeting be recessed to June 13, 1968 at 8:00 p.m. The motion was voted
upon by acclamation; whereupon the President declared the motion carried
and the meeting adjourned at 11 :30 p.m.
