HomeMy WebLinkAboutVILLAGE BOARD - 12/20/1966 - SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON DECEMBER 20, 1966 President Jack D. Pahl called the meeting to order at 8:05 P.M. in the Municipal Building in said Village. Upon the roll being called by Village Clerk, Eleanor G. Turner, the following Trustees answered "PRESENT" - Ronald L. Chernick, George C. Coney, Thomas A. Garrity, Ralph A. Lewis, George E. Mullen, Charles J. Zettek;"ABSENT" - none. The Village Clerk read the following letter received on December 15, 1966 from Village President Jack D. Pahl: "I hereby request a Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees to be held at 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 20, 1966 in the Municipal Building, Landmeier and Tonne Roads, Elk Grove Village, Illinois for the purpose of awarding the contract for a pump and motor for well #5 and for the construction of this well." The Clerk stated that notices were sent to all Trustees on December 15, 1966 advising them of the foregoing. Mr. Troy Miller, Village Engineer, presented a tabulation of bids and a written recommendation as concerned with construction of well #5, con- tract A. A copy of this tabulation and recommendation is attached hereto and made a part hereof as if fully set forth. It was moved by Trustee Lewis and seconded by Trustee Mullen that the Board concur in the recommendation of Mr. Troy Miller and award the con- tract for construction of well #5 to Mileager Well and Pump Co., Inc., of Milwaukee, Wisconsin under conditions as outlined by Mr. Miller. The President directed the Clerk to call the roll on the motion and upon the roll being called the following Trustees answered "AYE" - Chernick, Coney, Garrity, Lewis, Mullen, Zettek: "NAY" - none. Where- upon the President declared the motion carried. Mr. Miller then presented a tabulation of bids and a written recommen- dation as concerned with furnishing and installing a submersible pump and motor at well #5, contract B. A copy of this tabulation and recom- mendation is attached hereto and made a part hereof as if fully set forth. It was moved by Trustee Mullen and seconded by Trustee Lewis that the Board authorize the President and Clerk to sign a contract with Wehling Well Works, Inc., Beecher, Illinois for a submersible pump and motor at well #5 at a coat of $34,600.00. The President directed the Clerk to call the roll on the motion and upon the roll being called the following Trustees answered AYE" - Chernick, Coney, Garrity, Lewis, Mullen, Zettek: "NAY" - none; ''ABSENT" - none. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried. It was moved by Trustee Zettek and seconded by Trustee Mullen that the Board direct the Clerk to return the bid checks to the unsuccessful bidders. The motion was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the President declared the motion carried. It was moved by Trustee Mullen and seconded by Trustee Lewis that the Board designate the President and/or Village Manager to sign the above two authorized contracts in the event the President is not in the Village, The President directed the Clerk to call the roll on the motion and upon the roll being called the following Trustees answered "AYE" - Chernick, Coney, Garrity, Lewis, Mullen, Zettek; "NAY" - none; "ABSENT" - none. Whereupon the President declared the motion carried. It was moved by Trustee Garrity and seconded by Trustee Lewis that the meeting be adjourned. CONSULTING ENGINEERS 130 NORTH WELLS STREET CHICAGO 6, ILLINOIS ROBERT J.PETERSON GEORGE W.BENSON TROY L.MILLER December 20, 1966 President and Board of Trustees Village of Elk Grove Village Elk Grove Village, Illinois Re: E66-31 Well #5 Contract A Gentlemen: Enclosed is a copy of the Tabulation of Bids received on December 16th for the construction of Well No. 5, Contract A, The lowest qualified bidder was Milaeger Well and Pump Co. , Inc. , of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with a bid price of $36, 783, 50. They qualified their bid as follows: 1, Drive 2411 pipe in lieu of 221, pipe and drill 2311 hole in lieu of 21411 hole, Z. Deduct $600. 00 if plug method used for cementing well. They indicated that they would complete all work within 300 consecutive calendar days (240 days if no shooting). We have discussed this project with the low bidder, and they are prepared to move in equipment and start work during the first week in January, 1967. They are also planning on using two 40 hour shifts per week during drilling operations (not including pipe driving) and during cleaning and bailing operations. It is our recommendation that this contract be awarded to Milaeger WI-ell and Pump Co. , Inc. , Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the amount of $36, 783. 50, subject to their acceptance of an addendum to the con- tract stipulating that: Y. r 4: T' F l" 1. They will work two 40 hour per week shifts each week during the drilling operation (not including pipe driving) and during the cleaning and bailing operation. Z. They will move in equipment and begin work during the first week in January, 1967. Their proposal to substitute 24" pipe for 22" pipe and 23" hole for 214" hole is acceptable. The question of alternate method of cementing the well, with a deduct of $600. 00 for using the plug method, will be studied and our recommendation made at a later date.
