HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 03/23/1992 - MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSION OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON March 23, 1991 Acting Chairman Alan J. Shapiro, DDS called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following were present: H. Robert Goldsmith and noted for the record Gayle Bantner was absent. . It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Mr. Goldsmith that the minutes of February 24, 1992 be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Acting Chairman declared the motion carried. At this time the Board went off the record for one year probationary interviews with four police officers completing their probation on April 14, 1992. They are: Police Officer - John A. Bazukas Police Officer - Matthew J. FioRito Police Officer - Rebecca M. Scepurek Police Officer - Charles G. Walsh PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES Police Consultants Inc. $3,150 Bill for MIA Reports Total of bills for Month $3,150 It was moved by H. Robert Goldsmith and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Acting Chairman declared the motion carried. EXECUTIVE SESSION At this time the Board went into Executive Session with Deputy Chief Steve Schmidt and Officer Pascoe of the Police Department on the Accreditation of the Police Department. Regular meeting continues. CORRESPONDENCE The Commission cards were not sign, due to the fact that Gayle Bantner was not present for the meeting and they will be held over for his approval . Minutes March 23, 1992 Page 2 Memo was received from Deputy Chief Rose's office, March 16, 1992 on Sgt. Ken Deters, who had emergency surgery at Alexian Brothers due to a incarcerated bowel . Another memo received from Deputy Chief Rose's office on March 18, 1992 that Sgt. Deters was home and resting comfortable. A card was sent from the Commissioners. Received copy of letter sent to Peter Felice from George Knickerbocker proposing changes to the proposed draft of the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners . That has been temporary put on hold. Written Reprimands was received from the Chief of Police for Police Officers Robert Indurante, John Otzwirk and Vincent Lopez. Letters was received from Franklin Lan Harvey and Eric V. Ronewicz for information on the Elk Grove Police Department and how they could apply. That information was forwarded to them. A letter was received from Robert J. Yannotti from Cicero, Illinois , who was on the Calumet City Police Department and was laid off, was inquiring on how he could make a lateral move to gain employment with the Elk Grove Police Department. Elk Grove does not have that type of hiring system available. A Notice of Suspension was given to Michael Gaspari on March 17, 1992 for failure to operate Village vehicle in a safe and prudent manner, or to obey related traffic laws. PENDING Revision on Rules and Regulations on hold until law suit is settled. Still have not received booklets from Chief Burk, of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association on the Captains test. Adjournment It was moved by Acting Chairman Shapiro and seconded by H. Robert Goldsmith that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Acting Chairman declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 11 :05 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Alan J.
