HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 05/18/1992 - MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSION OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON May 18,1992 Chairman Gayle B. Bantner called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following were present: Alan J. Shapiro, DDS, H. Robert Goldsmith. It was moved by Mr. Goldsmith and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the minutes of April 27, 1992 be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES Retainer Fees charged by Atty. Peter Felice $560 Fees for the Months of February, 1992 March, 1992 April , 1992 May, 1992 at $140 each. Total for all bills $560 It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by H. Robert Goldsmith that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted by acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. NEW BUSINESS: A. Deputy Chief Schmidt informed Commissioners that there will be three openings in the police department. Police academy next date is third week in July. Four of the next police applicants were sent for polygraphs all were return and background investigation reports sent to the applicants to be completed and return May 26, 1992. B. Deputy Chief Schmidt and Sgt. Hammar inquired if they could have the help of the Fire Department on the background investigations for the F/F Applicants. Discussion on this topic by the Commissioners and all were opposed to any help from Fire Department. All voted NO. Fire and Police Commission Minutes April 27, 1992 EXECUTIVE SESSION: The Commissioners went to Executive Session for meeting with Police Officer Randall Nelson on his credit accounts. This has all been handled and all bills have been satisfied, copy of receipt placed in Officer Nelson's file. The Commissioners met with Attorneys Peter Felice and George Knickerbocker to receive and make final changes on the Rules and Regulations. The final draft will be drawn up and forward to the Commissioners before their next regular scheduled meeting on June 29, 1992 at 7:30 p.m. CORRESPONDENCE A written reprimand was received from Police Chief Engelbrecht for Police Officer Kevin Roeske, issued May 7, 1992 for Failure to be prompt for duty assignment including roll call and court appearance. A letter was received from F/F Howard W. Stroker notification of his retirement from the Fire Department effective May 18, 1992. Request memo was received from F/F Phil Haverland on Commission Disciplinary Action Proceedings. Commissioners feel this should come from the Fire Chief instead of Commissioners. Chief was so notified. PENDING Captains interviews. - No opening at this time will delay for a time on handling. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Alan J. Shapiro and seconded by H. Robert Goldsmith that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned.
