MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF Vf
THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSION uAGE �IERN'S OFFS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON July 27,1992
Chairman Gayle B. Bantner called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. in
the Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and
noted for the record that the following were present: Alan J. Shapiro,
DDS, H. Robert Goldsmith.
It was moved by Mr. Goldsmith and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the
minutes of June 29, 1992 be approved as submitted and that the Board
dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
One year probationary review was held for Police Officer Randall P.
Nelson and Officer Nelson has been granted permanent status with the
Police Department.
Six month probationary review was held for Police Officer Carl W. Dover
and he is to continue his probationary status to one year.
One year probationary review was held for Firefighter Roger A. Ferguson
and Firefighter Ferguson has been granted permanent status with the
Fire Department.
Continuation of Appeal Hearing
At 8:00 p.m. the Commissioners held the continuation hearing for Police
Officer Michael Ryan. Attorney Peter Felice, attorney for the Fire and
Police Commission prepared the minutes for the hearing and they are
attached. The hearing was completed at 8:30 p.m. and the Commissioners
reconvened to continue their regular meeting.
Regular Meeting Continued
The new Rules and Regulations have been approved and copies have been
given to George Knickerbocker, Village attorney to distribute to the
Village President, Village Manager and Board of Trustees for their
acceptance by Resolution.

It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by H. Robert Goldsmith that
the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The
motion was voted by acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the
motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
Chief Engelbrecht of the Police Department issued two Notices of
Suspension one for one day for failure to be prompt for duty assignment
including roll call and court appearance. One for two days for failure
to be prompt for duty assignment including roll call and court
appearance.
Chief MacArthur of the Fire Department issued a Notice of Suspension
for six days. The suspension was for 1) Falsification of Village
Records and 2) Violation of residency requirements.
Chief Engelbrecht of the Police Department issued three written
reprimands to Police Officers:
for any action or conduct which impedes the
department's efforts to achieve its goals or
brings discredit upon the department.

Next regular meeting will be held August 24, 1992 at 8:00 p.m.

ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Alan J. Shapiro and seconded by H. Robert Goldsmith
that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried and the
meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
