Chairman Gayle B. Bantner called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
in the Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village,
and noted for the record that the following were present: Alan J.
Shapiro, DDS and H. Robert Goldsmith.
It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Mr. Goldsmith that the
minutes of February 2, 1993 be approved as submitted and that the Board
dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS
The Commissioners received a letter of resignation from Fire Lt.
Ryan. The Commissioners discussed the resignation, Dr. Shapiro motion
to accept the resignation and seconded by Mr. Goldsmith. The motion
was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the chairman declared the
motion carried for acceptance of Lt. Ryan's resignation.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
For six month probationary reviews with Firefighters:
Brian McVeigh
Mark Percudani
Michael Sharp
Firefighter McVeigh and Percudani were here at their scheduled
time, the Commissioners waited pass 8:00 p.m. for Firefighter Sharp,
who did not show.
The Commissioners proceeded to the next executive session meeting
with the Fire and Police Pension Boards, Dr. Boyajian, Fire and Police
Chiefs and Fire and Police Commission Attorney, Peter Felice.
CORRESPONDENCE
A memo was received through the Fire Department from Firefighter
Diaz requesting to review his Fire and Police Commission personnel
file. A previous request had been received from Firefighter Michael
Sharp. The Commissioners have requested the Fire and Police Commission
Attorney, Peter Felice, to send each Firefighter a letter explaining
what the Commissioners are allowed to let the Firefighters review from
their files.
A note received todays date, Monday, February 22, 1993, from
Robert Podkowa, requesting a copy of his Village Employment
application. Mr. Podkowa resigned from the Elk Grove Police Department
on January 11, 1993. The Commissioners saw no problem with giving Mr.
Podkowa a copy since he filled out the application.

And informational survey was received from the Board of Fire and
Police Commissioners City of Wood Dale asking: Do you administer a
physical agility test? Answer: No, not at present time. Do you
administer the P.O.W.E.R. test? Answer: No. The survey was completed
by Dr. Shapiro and will be mailed back to the Wood Dale Fire and Police
Commissioners.
On February 5, 1993, Police Chief Engelbrecht issued a written
reprimand to a Police Officer for failure to appear in court when
required or scheduled.
OLD BUSINESS
The need to set starting dates for beginning Police Testing. The
Commissioners will meet with Deputy Police Chief Steve Schmidt on March
22, 1993, to arrange and set dates and times for the testing process.
PENDING
Fire Lieutenants multi-interviews have to be arranged so that the
Lieutenants Eligibility list can be prepared. As soon as dates are set
the Fire Department will be notified.
Next meeting is scheduled for March 22, 1993 at the Municipal
Building, 901 Wellington Avenue at 8:00 p.m.
Adjournment
It was moved by Gayle Bantner and seconded by H. Robert Goldsmith
that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried and the
meeting adjourned.
