THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON MAY 24, 1993
Chairman Gayle B. Bantner called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m.
in the Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village,
and noted for the record that the following were present: Alan J.
Shapiro, DDS and H. Robert Goldsmith.
It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Mr. Goldsmith that the
minutes of April 26, 1993 be approved as submitted and that the Board
dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
A Purchase Order was submitted for
approval of Peter Felice retainer
for services for the year for
accounting purposes in Finance at
$140.00 for each month May 1993-
April 1994.
Total of PO $1,680
It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Mr. Goldsmith that the
Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion
was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the
motion carried.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
The Commissioners met with Deputy Police Chief Steve Schmidt to
discuss the details of the upcoming Police Orientation that will be
held June 17, 1993 at the Elk Grove High School .
CORRESPONDENCE
The Commissioners received back a notice from Dan Crichton
requesting a copy of his polygraph test taken for the Police
Department. Mr. Crichton was directed to contact Theodore Polygraph
Service where he had taken the test for a copy. They no long have copy
of file. He is requesting what statute and section of the regulations
states that the Village can not supply him with a copy.
The Commissioners have instructed that all correspondence be
forward to the Fire and Police Commission attorney Peter Felice to
advise Mr. Crichton.
A Notice of Suspension was received from the Police Chief issued
on May 11, 1993 to an officer for any action or conduct which impedes
the Department's efforts to achieve its goals or bring discredit upon
the Department and insubordination or disrespect toward a supervisory
member.

Two copies of memos were received; 1) from the Deputy Police Chief
to the Chief of Police 2) from the Chief of Police to Gary Parrin,
Village Manager both pertaining to Pension Fund Alternatives requesting
what the Village would provide if the employee did not meet the
requirements of the Police Pension -since the Americans With
Disabilities Act has been issued.
The monthly minutes was received from the Illinois Fire & Police
Commissioners Association.
OLD BUSINESS
Ads have been placed in the newspapers for the Thursday, June 17,
1993 Police Orientation starting at 7:00 p.m. and the written
examination on Sunday, June 27, 1993. Their will be a minimum of
two(2) sessions.
PENDING
Fire Lieutenants Eligibility List. Points are forth coming from
the Fire Chief and Captains.
No date has been set for the Sergeants test since there are no
openings at this time no testing before August or September.
Next meeting is scheduled for June 28, 1993 at the Municipal
Building, 901 Wellington Avenue at 8:00 p.m.
Adjournment
It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Mr. Goldsmith that the
meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation;
whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried and the meeting
adjourned at 11:30 p.m.
