Bantner called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village , and noted for the record that the following were present: Alan J. Shapiro, DDS, H. Robert Goldsmith. It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Mr. Goldsmith that the minutes of September 27, 1993 be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES Police Consultants (PCI) $2,826.00 MIA Reports for Patrol Officer 157 at $18 @ Total of Bills $2,826.00 It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Mr. Goldsmith that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. EXECUTIVE SESSION Commissioners convened for executive session to discuss the Eligibility List for Police Officer. There. were three instances where the position on the list had to be decided by lottery with ties in points. They were: 17 Gohlke, Michael P. 79.12 18 Schlagel , Joseph A. 79.12 26 Jones, Chad A. 77.59 27 Cooker, Geoffrey R. 77.59 38 Santucci , Antonio 75.51 39 Liazuk, Robert W. 75.51 The regular scheduled meeting continued. Fire and Police C,,.. nissior Minutes October 25 , 1993 Page NEI4 BUSINESS Police Officer Eligibility List compiled and the Commissioners gave instructions for list to be typed for their signatures and posted. CORRESPONDENCE Two Notices of Suspension were issued on two different dates to two different officers from the Police Chief for one day, notices issued on September 28, 1993, for any failure to promote the Department's efforts to accomplish its goals, incompetency or inefficiency in the performance of duty and making a false report, written or oral and on October 15, 1993, for failure to appear in court when required or scheduled. Four Written Reprimands were issued on four difference dates to four different officers from the Police Chief, , On September 28, 1993 the reprimand was for making a false report written or oral , October 7, 1993 was for failure to be prompt for duty assignment including roll call and court appearance, October 8, 1993, was for disobedience of an order, written or oral and inattention to duty and on October 22, 1993, for failure to be prompt for duty assignment, including roll call and court appearance. A letter from the City of Chicago/Department of Police was received requesting information on Pablo A. Pepin, Jr. who had taken the Police Exam for Elk Grove in 1990. That information was released to the Chicago Police Department. A letter to Chairman Gayle Bantner was received thanking him, Dr. Shapiro and Mr. Goldsmith for their assistance in helping the Police Department achieve National Accreditation. A copy of a letter sent to P.C. I . Attention Dave Christensen for his assistance also in helping the Police Department achieve National Accreditation. Letter from Peter Felice dated September 28, 1993, advising the Commissioners that the Board of Fire and Police should amend their Rules and Regulations to the Public Act 88-0440, which amends Chapter 24, Section 10-2.10-9 of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners Act. OLD BUSINESS Senate Bill 60 - should be sent to Peter Felice for advice on whether the Commissioners should amend Rules and Regulations. PENDING No date has been set for the Sergeants test since there are no openings at this time no testing before August or September.
