Gayle B. Bantner called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m.
.04 in the Charles J. zettek Municipal Building, 901 wellington Avenue, Elk
Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following were
present: Alan J. Shapiro, DDS, Gayle Bantner and Ted E. Thompson.
It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Ted E. Thompson that
the minutes of April 19, 1995 be approved as submitted and that the
Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation; whereupon the chairman declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES

It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Ted Thompson that the
Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion
was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the
motion carried.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Commissioners convened for an Executive Session to interview
three(3) Firefighter Candidates to fill the three openings available.
The Candidates are:
Patrick McManus
Bradley Menas
William Elliott
All three candidates passed the orals and was offer the position
as a Firefighter with the Elk Grove Fire Department pending passing
their medical exams.
The regular meeting was convened.

CORRESPONDENCE
1. Copy of a memo from James D. MacArthur, Fire Chief to Gary E.
Parrin, Village Manager, requesting to fill temporary firefighter
positions and promote two(2) firefighters to Lieutenant with the
retirement of Lieutenant Hanko and disability of Lt. Rohrer. Also
the retirement of Firefighter Novak.
2. Letters from the Fire and Police Commissioners appointing
Firefighters Robert C. Stecki and James R. Johnson to Lieutenants
effective May 8, 1995.
3. Letters from Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board
to two(2) of our new Police Officers Michael J. Garrison and David
M. Struwing advising they had successfully completed the Timothy J.
O'Connor Training Center on April 21, 1995.
4. A letter from the Calumet City Police Department, Investigator Gary
Devaney, requesting information on William P. Gavin, once employed
by the Elk Grove Police Department from October, 1988 to April,
1989.
5. Notice of Suspension issued on May 4, 1995 by the Chief of Police
to a Police Officer for one(1) day for failure to obey department
orders concerning other employment, occupation, or profession.
G. written Reprimand issued on May 4, 1995 by the Chief of Police to a
Police Officer for failure to be prompt for duty assignment,
including roll call and court appearance.
7. Reply to Police Chief Engelbrecht's memo (dated April 6, 1995) ,
reference to three police officers requesting an audience with the
Fire and Police Commissioners to discuss their test results.
8. A survey request received from Northwest Municipal Conference
asking if the Fire and Police Commission of home-rule municipalities
test applicants over 35. Survey completed and returned.

PENDING
Hiring of three(3) new firefighters pending their medicals, to
start May 30, 1995.
Next meeting is scheduled for June 26, 1995, at the Charles J.
Zettek Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue at 8:00 p.m.
Adjournment
It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Ted E. Thompson that
the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation;
whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried and the meeting
adjourned at 10:00 p.m.
