1. L HELD ON June 26, 1995
Chairman Gayle B. Bantner called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m.
in the Charles J. Zettek Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk
Grove village, and noted for the record that the following were
present: Alan J. Shapiro, DDS, Gayle B. Bantner and absent: Ted E.
Thompson.
It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Gayle Bantner that the
minutes of May 10, 1995 be approved as submitted and that the Board
dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
Dr. Charles Boyajian $1,245.00
for three(3) F/F Recruits Medicals
at $415 each.
Federal Express 31. 00
To send background forms to
two(2) F/F Candidates
Total of Bills $1,276. 00
It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Gayle Bantner that the
Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion
was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the
motion carried.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Commissioners convened for an Executive Session to interview
two(2) six month probationary Police Officers. who are:
Michael J. Garrison
David M. Struwing
The regular meeting was convened.
NEW BUSINESS
None
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Memo from Police Officer Myles Greenberg requesting a meeting with
the Commissioners to discuss his test results of the Sergeants exam
and see where he needs to improve for the next exam. The
Commissioners are holding their stance that the results are
confidential and will not discuss the results.
2. Two(2) Notices of Suspension were issued by the Chief of Police on
May 18th and June 1, 1995 to two(2) different Police Officers for
one(1) day; one for failure to operate village vehicles in a safe
and prudent manner, or to obey related traffic laws; and the
other for failure to be prompt for duty assignment including roll
call and court appearance.
3. Memo from Police Officer Cheri Anne Norway giving her resignation
notice from the Police Department effective June 30, 1995.
4. Memo from Police Officer William G. Lancaster giving his notice of
retirement from the Police Department effective June 1, 1995.
5. Memo from the Chief of Police requesting that the vacancies caused
by the retirement of Officer Lancaster and resignation of Officer
Norway be filled.
6. Fax from Peter Felice, Fire and Police Commission Attorney, giving
the Commissioners a copy of the letter received from Representative
Kathleen L. Wojcik reference House Bill 2279 - Police and Fire
Department Promotion Act, in response to his letter voicing the
Commissioners opposition to the Bill. The Bill did not pass.
7. Memo from Lt. Fred Rohrer advising the Commissioners of his
disability retirement from the Fire Department.
8. Letter from Firefighter John Serbec informing the Commissioners of
his retirement from the Fire Department effective August 1, 1995.
9. Copy of letter from Fire Chief MacArthur to John Serbec reference
his retirement from the Fire Department after 26 years.
10. Copy of bfs Update from the Division of Forensic Services and
Identification.

PENDING
Background checks of the next two Police Candidates on the
eligibility list are being completed.
Next meeting is scheduled for July 24, 1995, at the Charles J.
Zettek Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue at 8:00 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and. seconded by Gayle Bantner that the
meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation;
whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried and the meeting
adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
