THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS ' v IJS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON July 24, 1995
Chairman Gayle B. Bantner called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m.
in the Charles J. Zettek Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk
Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following were
present: Alan J. Shapiro, DDS, Gayle B. Bantner and Ted E. Thompson.
It was moved by Ted Thompson and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that
the minutes of June 26, 1995 be approved as submitted and that the
Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
Theodore Polygraph Service $ 120. 00
For Two(2) Police Candidates
Russell Sullivan & Alonzo Roberts
$60.00 ea.
Peter A. Felice 320.00
For Retainer Fees for the months
of June & July $160 ea.
Total of Bills $ 440.00
It was moved by Ted Thompson and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that
the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The
motion was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared
the motion carried.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Commissioners convened for an Executive Session to interview
two(2) Police Candidates, Russell Sullivan and Alonzo Roberts. Both
candidates were offered employment with the Police Department pending
their medical exams.
The regular meeting was reconvened.
NEW BUSINESS
The Commissioners instructed Evelyne Layton to send Gary Parrin,
Village Manager, a memo requesting a meeting with them on August 17,
1995, at 11:00 a.m. in the Commissioners office.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. On June 26, 1995, the Police Chief issued a Written Reprimand to
an officer for insubordination or disrespect toward a supervisory
member.
2. On June 27, 1995, the Police Chief issued a written Reprimand to
an officer for insubordination or disrespect toward a supervisory
member.
3. On July 6, 1995, the Police Chief issued a written Reprimand to an
officer for incompetency or inefficiency in the performance of duty.
4. On July 10, 1995, the Police Chief issued a written Reprimand to an
officer for failure to appear in court when required or scheduled.
5. A copy of a memo written by the Chief of Police to the village
Manager asking for two(2) police officer replacements in
anticipation of two(2) officers leaving, one for possibly going
to another department the second one retiring. No dates were
given.
6. Theodore Polygraph Service sent a bulletin on Age Limitation
Eliminated for hiring Of the Police and Fire Departments.
7. Illinois Fire & Police Commissioners Association monthly news
letter with information of fall meeting and information on the
new law of Elimination of Maximum Age 35 Hiring Limitation.

None
PENDING
Background checks of the next two Firefighter Candidates on the
eligibility list are being completed.
Next meeting is scheduled for August 17 , 1995, at the Charles J.
Zettek Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue at 9:30 a.m.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Ted Thompson that the
meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation;
whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried and the meeting
adjourned at 10.00 p.m.
