HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 09/20/1995 - v° P� MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON September 20, 1995 Chairman Gayle B. Bantner called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following were present: Alan J. Shapiro, DDS, Gayle B. Bantner and Ted E. Thompson. It was moved by Ted Thompson and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the minutes of August 17, 1995 be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES Dr. Charles Boyajian $ 830.00 For Firefighter Candidates Jim Raymond $415.00 Daniel Schneider $415.00 Daily Herald 20. 00 F/P Commission Meeting cancelled and rescheduled Peter A. Felice 320.00 Monthly retainer fees for August & September 160.00 ea. Total of Bills $1, 170. 00 It was moved by Ted Thompson and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. EXECUTIVE SESSION Commissioners convened for an Executive Session to interview two(2) six month probationary Firefighters Douglas E. Brammer and Lance R. Harris. The regular meeting was reconvened. NEW BUSINESS None CORRESPONDENCE 1. Written Reprimand issued on August 18, 1995 by the Chief of Police to an officer for failure to perform a duty. 2. Written Reprimand issued on August 28, 1995 by the Chief of Police to an officer for failure to perform a duty. 3. written Reprimand issued on August 31, 1995 by the Chief of Police to an officer for failure to be prompt for duty assignment, including roll call and court appearance. 4. written Reprimand issued on September 15, 1995 by the Chief of Police to an officer for failure to appear in court when required or scheduled. 5. Written Reprimand issued on September 19, 1995 by the Chief of Police to an officer for failure to operate Village vehicle in a safe and prudent manner, or to obey related traffic laws. 6. Notice of Suspension issued on August 22, 1995 by the Chief of Police to an officer for one(1) day for failure to appear in court when required or scheduled. 7. A letter received from Firefighter applicant Jim Raymond declining the position as Firefighter with Elk Grove Village for personnel reasons. 8. Confidential memo from Chief of Police to Chairman Bantner reference relieving officer from duty until further notice. 9. Memo from Fire Chief MacArthur asking the Fire and Police Commission to provide Medical Exams to the Fire Pension Board. The Commissioners instructed Evelyne Layton to respond to the Fire Chief that the Commission can not provide this information, but they can obtain this information by obtaining a signed release from the newly hired Firefighter and presenting to Doctor Boyajian, he will then provide same to the Fire Pension Board. 10.Memo from Police Chief Engelbrecht to Chairman Bantner informing the Commission of the relieve of an Officer from duty on September 11, 1995, until investigation of charges are investigated. This memo was fax to Fire and Police Commission attorney. OLD BUSINESS None PENDING The Fire and Police Commission instructed Evelyne Layton to send memo to Gary Parrin, village Manager, asking if he would prefer the Commission to approach the village Board reference their meeting with the Village Manager on August 17, 1995, since the Manager had not done so at this time. Next meeting is scheduled for October 23, 1995, at the Charles J. Zettek Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue at 8:00 p.m. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Ted Thompson that the meeting be adjourned.
