THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON April 22, 1996
Chairman Gayle B. Bantner called the meeting to order at 7:00
p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Municipal Building, 901 Wellington
Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following
were present: Gayle B. Bantner, Alan J. Shapiro, DDS, and Ted E.
Thompson.
The Fire and Police Commissioners, Gayle B. Bantner, Alan J.
Shapiro and Ted E. Thompson convened at 7:00 P.M. to schedule the next
Public Hearing on Police Officer Patrick Hayes. (See attached minutes)
The Commissioners then turned to their regular meeting.
It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Ted Thompson that the
minutes of March 25, 1996 be approved as submitted and that the Board
Dispense with the Reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
Bureau of Testing Services $ 8,330.00
Police Officer written Exam of 348 at
$22.50 and $5 per applicant plus $500
administration fee.

Polygraph for F/F Applicant M. Reidy
Total of Bills $ 81889.08
It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Ted Thompson that the
Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion
was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the
motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS
Set date and times for three(3) one year probationary reviews for:
F/F Patrick J. McManus
F/F Bradley J. Menas
F/F William B. Elliott
Reviews will be held on May 23, 1996 at 12:30 p.m. for May meeting.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Copy of letter from the President of the Police Pension Board to
President Gallitano, Village President informing of the Boards
decision to discontinue Robert Arnolds disability, that Robert
Arnolds is physically capable of performing the duties of a police
officer.
2. Written Reprimand issued by the Chief of Police on March 26, 1996,
to an officer for failure to appear in court when required or
scheduled.
3 . Letter from the Illinois Professional Firefighters Association
reference Federal Legislation, 5.553 "Age Discrimination in
Employment Amendments of 1995" .

EXECUTIVE SESSION
The Commissioners convened into Executive Session to meet with Dr.
Mendelsohn.
Next meeting is scheduled June 24, 1996, at the Charles J. 2ettek
Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue at 7:30 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Ted Thompson that the
meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation;
whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried and the meeting
adjourned at 11:30 p.m,

On the motion on behalf of Patrick Hayes through his attorney,
Joseph Mazone, and George Knickerbocker, Attorney for the Chief of
Police Fred Engelbrecht, and by agreement of the parties, this matter
