THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS v
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON October 28, 1996
Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the
Charles J. Zettek Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove
village, and noted for the record that the following were present:
Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Alan J. Shapiro, DDS and Ted E. Thompson.
It was moved by Ted Thompson and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that
the minutes of September 24, 1996 be approved as submitted and that the
Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation; whereupon the Acting Chairman declared the motion carried.

EXECUTIVE SESSION
The Commissioners convened to Executive Session to hold an
informational meeting with Dr. Mendelsohn.
The regular meeting was reconvened

It was moved by Ted Thompson and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the
Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion
was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the
motion carried.

1. Notice of Suspension issued by the Chief of Police on September 26,
1996 to Police Officer for failure to appear in court when
scheduled or required.
2. Notice of Suspension issued by the Chief of Police on September 27,
1996 to Police Officer for inattention to duty, incompetency or
inefficiency in the performance of duty and making a false report,
written or oral.
3. Notice of Suspension issued by the Chief of Police on October 24,
1996 to Police Officer for insubordination or disrespect toward a
supervisory member, incompetency or inefficiency in the
performance of duty and making a false report, written or oral.
4. Notice of Suspension issued by the Chief of Police on October 24,
1996 to Police Officer for disobedience of an Order, written or
oral, failure to adequately secure, use, care for, and maintain
Department property or equipment.
5. Notice of Suspension issued by the Chief of Police on October 25,
1996 to Police officer for failure to appear in court when required
or scheduled.
6. Written Reprimand issued by the Chief of Police on September 27,
1996 to Police Officer for failure to be prompt for duty assignment
including roll call and court appearance.
7. Written Reprimand issued by the Chief of Police on September 27,
1996 to Police officer for failure to adequately secure, use, care
for and maintain property or equipment.
8. Written Reprimand issued by the Chief of Police on October 24, 1996
to Police Officer for inattention to duty and incompetency or
inefficiency in the performance of duty.
9. Letter from Steve Kobrick a Firefighter applicant requesting to
discuss his written exam with the Fire and Police Commission since
he has taken the test three times and each time has failed and
wanted the Commissioners to tell him where he is failing.
10. Fax from Mrs. Nancy L. Swanson requesting a copy of her son
Michael 's written exam for Firefighter position.
11. Information from the Municipal League Conference Legislative and
Case Law Update for the Illinois Fire and Police Commissioners.
12. Newsletter for the Fall/Winter 1996 Illinois Fire & Police
Commissioners Association.
13. Illinois Fire & Police Commissioners Association solicited proxy
form if the Commissioners so desire to sign.

PENDING
Firefighter Multiple oral interviews are scheduled for Thursday,
November 7, Thursday, November 14, and Thursday, November 21 for
124 Firefighter applicants.
Next meeting is scheduled November 25, 1996 at the Charles J.
2ettek Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue at 8:00 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Ted Thompson and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the
meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation;
whereupon the Acting Chairman declared the motion carried and the
meeting adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
