HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 04/28/1997 - MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS wygy ��Irk OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON April 28, 1997 _ �g99 Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Municipal fir^ Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village,and noted for the record that the following were present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Alan J. Shapiro,DDS and Ted E. Thompson. It was moved by Ted Thompson and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the minutes of March 24, 1997 be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation;whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. EXECUTIVE SESSION: The Commissioners convened to Executive Session to hold two(2)oral interviews with Firefighter candidates William Tranchita and Anthony Ford. William Tranchita was interviewed first, after a lengthily interview the Fire and Police Commissioners asked Mr. Tranchita to wait outside of their office. After a discussion among themselves the Commissioners called Mr. Tranchita in again and offered him the Firefighter position pending his passing the medical exam scheduled for May 30th. The Commissioners then interviewed Anthony Ford, after a long interview they ask Mr. Ford to take a seat outside of their office. After discussion the Commissioners called Mr. Ford back into their office and advised him,he did not meet the standards for a Firefighter with the Elk Grove Fire Department. The Commissioners then reconvened their regular meeting. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES Peter A. Felice $ 320.00 Retainer for February&March at$160 ea. Theodore Polygraph Service ( 70.00) For F/F R.C. Naida this bill was paid 1-14-97 Ck. #90057 along with D.B. Ramirez. Daily Herald 25.20 Ad for Fire Lts. Promotional Test Total of Bills $ 345.20 It was moved by Ted Thompson and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation;whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. NEW BUSINESS None CORRESPONDENCE 1. Four(4) Suspension Notices issued by the Chief of Police on two different dates to four(4)different Police Officers. 2. Letter from the City of Mesa Arizona requesting information on Daniel B. Stegenga,which is on our Police Eligibility List. Commissioners instructed that the information be released. 3. Two(2)memos from Fire Chief MacArthur to F/F Sellers reference Paramedic Decertification. 4. Two(2) letters to Nancy Rayan,M.D. Acting EMS Medical Director from Fire Chief MacArthur on the Paramedic Decertification of OF Sellers and the certification of F/F Shape. 5. Copy of the Illinois State Fire Department Promotion Act from the Fire Chief. OLD BUSINESS None PENDING The Fire Lieutenants exams are scheduled for May 7th at the Fire Administration Building. Making appointments for the next two Firefighter Candidates for second interviews to continue the process of hiring one Firefighter. Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 12, 1997 at 8:00 p.m. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Ted Thompson and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the meeting be adjourned.
