THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON July 22, 1997
Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in the
Charles J. Zettek Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove
Village, and noted for the record that the following were present:
Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Alan J. Shapiro, DDS and H. Robert Goldsmith.
It was moved by Bob Goldsmith and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the
minutes of June 24, 1997 be approved as submitted and that the Board
dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
The Commissioners convened to executive session for interviews of
one six month probationary Firefighter Ronald C. Naida. Firefighter
Naida will continue his probation until he has completed one year at
which time he will be interviewed again for permanent status.
The Commissioners then interviewed two police candidates which are:
Brian J. Kleszynski
Kelly L. Sweeney
First interviewed was Brian J. Kleszynski, after some discussion
Mr. Kleszynski was offered the one position available in the Police
Department pending passing his medical. Mr. Kleszynski is already a
police officer, he will begin in house training on completion of his
physical, which the Commissioners instructed Evelyne Layton to see if
she could get Mr. Kleszynski and earlier appointment for his medical
since he is already a certified police officer and no academy is
required. .
Second interviewed was Kelly L. Sweeney. Ms. Sweeney was informed
she passed the interview and would be the next person hired when a
vacancy was available.
The Commissioners then interviewed two firefighter candidates which
are:
Michael A. Pestel
Clint C. Cunz
First interviewed was Michael A. Pestel. Mr. Pestel was offered
the Firefighter position after a short discussion pending passing his
medical on August 12, 1997. Mr. Pestel will start here on September 8th
and go to the Elgin Academy on September 15th.
Second interviewed was Clint C. Cunz. Mr. Cunz passed the
interview and was informed he would be the next person hired for the
Fire Department upon an opening.
On completion of the interviews the Commissioners reconvened their
regular meeting.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
Theodore Polygraph Service $ 140.00
For Michael Pestel and Clint Cunz
at $70 ea.
Total of Bills $ 140.00
It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Bob Goldsmith that the
Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was
voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion
carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Written Reprimand issued on June 27, 1997 by the Chief of Police to
an Officer for disobedience of an Order, written or oral and
incompetency or inefficiency in the performance of duty.
2. Written Reprimand issued on July 22, 1997 by the Chief of Police to
an Officer for failure to adequately secure, use, care for, and
maintain Department property or equipment.

PENDING
The Fire Lieutenants scheduling of Multiple Orals tentatively
changed to September 30, 1997.
Schedule appointments for three one year probationary Firefighters
Marc A. Skowronski, Kevin R. Nejedlo and Belinda Sindelar for August 26,
1997 starting at 8:00 p.m.
Next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 26, 1997 at 8:00 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Bob Goldsmith and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the
meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation;
whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried and the meeting
adjourned at 11:30 p.m.
