THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON JUNE 23, 1998
Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek
Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record
that the following were present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Alan J. Shapiro and H.
Robert Goldsmith.
It was moved by Chairman Bantner and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the minutes of the
May 26, 1998 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the
reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Chairman
declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. Invoice in the amount of$830.00 for two physicals for Eugene Edmond and
Kenneth Hoffmann new Police Officers.
2. Retainer for Peter A. Felice & Associates in the amount of$320.00 for April
and May, 1998.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
The 1 year probationary review of Firefighter Bill Tranchita was discussed and it was
determined that due to the excellent comments from his supervisors, the Commissioners
certified Firefighter Tranchita as a permanent Firefighter in the Elk Grove Village Fire
Department.
The 6 month review of Police Officers Sabo and Schumacher were discussed and it was
determined that due to the excellent comments from their supervisors, they are on track
and are performing their duties at an acceptable level.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. A memo from PCI announcing the new police entry written exam.
2. A Grievance memo from a Firefighter in regards to the Fire Lieutenant Eligibility
Listing.
3. A memo from the Human Resources Officer in regards to information that was
requested from the Fire Union President.
4. A Written Reprimand for a Police Officer for violating Rules of Conduct,
Failure to follow medical roll procedures and Failure to appear in Court when
required.
5. A Written Reprimand for a Police Officer for violating Rules of Conduct,
Bringing discredit to the Department and Incompetence in the performance
of duty.
6. A Written Reprimand for a Police Officer for violating Rules of Conduct and
Inattention to duty.
7. A memo from the Police Chief requesting to fill 2 Police Officer vacancies.
8. A memo from the Fire Chief requesting to appoint the next two Firefighters
on the Lieutenant eligibility list.
9. A memo from the Village Manager announcing the appointment of Douglas
Goostree to the position of Captain in the Fire Department.
10. An inquiry letter from an applicant requesting information on Firefighter
testing.

ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Chairman Bantner and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the meeting be
adjourned. The motion was voted upon acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner
declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 10:0.5 p,m.
