HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 09/15/1998 - MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON SEPTEMBER 15, 1998 Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following were present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Alan J. Shapiro, H. Robert Goldsmith, Peter Felice, Attorney, Deputy Police Chief Larry Hammar and Deputy Police Chief Steve Schmidt. It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Bob Goldsmith that the minutes of the August 25, 1998 meeting as well as the minutes from the August 13, 1998 and August 25, 1998 Police Sergeant Group Interviews be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES An invoice in the amount of$2,075.00 from Dr. Charles Boyajian, M.D. for five (5) Firefighter Pre-Employment Physicals. It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Bob Goldsmith that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. EXECUTIVE SESSION The Board entered into Executive Session to discuss Police Entry Testing. Also present for this Executive Session were Peter Felice, Attorney and Deputy Steve Schmidt and Deputy Larry Hammar. It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Bob Goldsmith that the following two (2) changes be made to entry requirements for Police Officers and Firefighters. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. 1. That the age requirement at the time of orientation for Police Officer and Firefighter candidates be 21 years of age and not have attained their 35°i birthday. 2. That each candidate must have completed 60 semester credit hours of education from an accredited college or university by the time of the posting of the eligibility list. CORRESPONDENCE N/A PENDING Police Officer Entry Examination scheduled for November 6'" and November 7'h. NEW BUSINESS N/A OLD BUSINESS N/A ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Chairman Bantner and seconded by Bob Goldsmith that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner declared the motion carried and the meeting adjoined at 10:00 p.m. Nis Dr. A] n J.
