HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 08/24/1999 - J `\ MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING u OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON AUGUST 24, 1999 Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the following were present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Dr. Alan J. Shapiro, Secretary and Robert Goldsmith, Commissioner. It was moved by Chairman Bantner and seconded by Bob Goldsmith that the minutes of the July 20, 1999 meeting be approved as Abmitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was moved upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL 1. An invoice in the amount of$1,080.00 to Police Consultants, Inc. for 54 Multiple Interview Assessments reports for Firefighters. 2. The minutes of Multiple Interviews conducted for Firefighters on July 20, 1999 whereas 54 applicants were interviewed. It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Bob Goldsmith that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Chairman Bantner declared the motion carried. EXECUTIVE SESSION Chief Steve Schmidt was present to discuss the upcoming Police Officer Exam that is going to be administered on September 18, 1999. CORRESPONDENCE 1. A Written Reprimand for a Police Officer for violating Rules of Conduct and Failure to be Prompt for duty. 2. A Written Reprimand for a Police Officer for violating Rules of Conduct and Failure to Perform a Duty. 3. A Written Reprimand for a Police Officer for violating Rules of Conduct and and Failure to Adequately Secure Equipment. 4. A Notice of Suspension for a Police Officer for violating Rules of Conduct and and Failure to be Prompt for Duty. 2 5. A Notice of Suspension for a Police Officer for violating Rules of Conduct and and Failure to Appear in Court. 6. A Notice of Police Officer Resignation effective August 15, 1999. 7. A Request for Reinstatement for a Police Officer due to a Resignation Request that made in error whereas the original request should have been for a Leave of Absence. 8. A letter from a Firefighter applicant requesting to be passed by for the hiring in September, 1999 and considered for the next hiring in year 2000. 9. A notice from the Illino;s Professional Firefighters Association explaining Pension Legislation Public Act 91-466. 10. A Notice of Retirement from a Firefighter Captain effective September 15, 1999. 11. A memo to the retiring Firefighter Captain congratulating him on his retirement. 12. A Notice of Retirement from the Police Chief effective August 13, 1999. 13. .An inquiry from a Firefighter candidate requesting that educational points be added to his score 14. A memo to the Firefighter candidate making an inquiry regarding educational points explaining that no extra points are added to the score due to the fact that all candidates are required to have 60 semester credit hours of college from an accredited college or university. PENDING 1. Upcoming Police Officer Test—September 18, 1999. NEW BUSINESS N/A ADJOURIJMENT It was moved by Chairman B,,ntner and seconded by Dr Shapiro that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 11:30 p.m.
