HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 12/04/1996 - F��ff MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING /�+.y �vQ ` C THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON December 4, 19967 inn Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in the Charles J. zettek Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following were present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Alan J. Shapiro, DDS and Ted E. Thompson. It was moved by Ted Thompson and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the minutes of October 28, 1996 and special minutes for Firefighter Multiple Orals be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. EXECUTIVE SESSION The Commissioners convened to Executive Session to hold One Year Probationary review with Police Officer David L. Klingsporn, where upon completion of review Officer Klingsporn's status was that of permanent employment with the Elk Grove Police Department. The Commissioners held a second oral interview with Police Applicant Daniel J. Harrison, and was informed that he fail to meet the requirements for the position of Police Officer with the Elk Grove Police Department. The Commissioners held a second oral interview with Firefighter Applicant Ronald C. Naida and on completion of interview offered the position as Firefighter with the Elk Grove Fire Department pending passing the polygraph and medical that will be scheduled. The Commissioners then met with Police Deputy Chiefs Schmidt and Hammar to discuss Accreditation updates. The regular meeting was reconvened PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES Peter A. Felice $ 320. 00 Retainer for October & November at $160 ea. Illinois Professional Firefighter's Assoc. 40. 00 Yearly Renewal Total of Bills $ 360.00 It was moved by Ted Thompson and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation; whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. NEW BUSINESS None CORRESPONDENCE 1. Written Reprimand issued on November 4, 1996 by the Chief of Police to an officer for failure to be prompt for duty assignment including roll call and court appearance. 2. Notice of Suspension issued on November 4, 1996 by the Chief of Police to an officer for failure to be prompt for duty assignment including roll call and court appearance. 3 . Memo to Gayle Bantner, Chairman of Fire and Police Commission from Chief of Police requesting vacancy of Police officer be filled with Village Managers okay. Vacancy created by Officer Thomas Hogans resignation. Next academy starts January 13th. OLD BUSINESS None PENDING Results of Firefighter Multiple Orals to establish a Firefighters Eligibility list. The Commissioners instructed that the next person on the Police Eligibility List be scheduled for a second oral interview on Wednesday, December 11, 1996. Next meeting is scheduled Wednesday, December 11, 1996 at 8:00 p.m. (Executive Session) and the next regular schedule meeting will be Monday, January 27, 1997 at the Charles J. Zettek Municipal Building, 901 Wellington Avenue at 8:00 p.m. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Ted Thompson and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the meeting be adjourned.
