HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 03/21/2000 - MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON MARCH 21, 2000 Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 7:45 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the following were present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner,Dr. Alan J. Shapiro, Secretary and Robert Goldsmith, Commissioner. It was moved by Chairman Bantner and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the minutes of the February 10, 2000 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof The motion was moved upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES The following invoices were presented for payment: 1. Theodore Polygraph Service—Invoice#12207 $1040.00 Polygraph tests for 5 firefighter candidates and 8 police officer candidates 2. Police Consultants Inc. —Invoice #15 79 $400.00 Psychological evaluation for police officer candidate Singleton. 3. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice#1587—Shared Test $300.00 Psychological evaluation for police officer candidate Verlinden. 4. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice#1594 $400.00 Psychological evaluation for police officer candidate Meyers. 5. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice #1597 $400.00 Psychological evaluation for police officer candidate Thammarath. 6. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice #1604 $400.00 Psychological evaluation for police officer candidate Chmelik. 7. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice #1612 $400.00 Psychological evaluation for police officer candidate LaPak. 8. Peter A. Felice & Associates—Invoice#417 $320.00 Retainer Fee for February and March 2000. MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS Page Two March 21, 2000 It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Bob Goldsmith that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. EXECUTIVE SESSION Chief Schmidt met with the commissioners to discuss scheduling of the next police officer orientation session and entrance examination. Dr. Mendelsohn reviewed psychological reports for police officer and firefighter applicants. CORRESPONDENCE 1. Written response from Chief MacArthur regarding six-month probationary review of a firefighter. Review has been rescheduled for May 23, 2000. 2. Completed survey from the Illinois Law Enforcement Executive Institute. 3. Memo from Chief Schmidt on Police Officer Educational Requirements Survey. 4. Letter from Government Personnel Testing Service, Inc. promoting their entry level testing for police officer and firefighter candidates. S. Memo from a police officer formally requesting a withdrawal of his appeal of suspension. 6. Letter from a police officer candidate formally withdrawing from our hiring process. PENDING Currently processing candidates to 511 seven police officer openings. Current police officer eligibility list is exhausted. NEW BUSINESS MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS Page Three March 21, 2000 ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Chairman Bantner and seconded by Robert Goldsmith that the meeting be adjourned.
