Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek
Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the
following were present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Dr. Alan J. Shapiro, Secretary and
Robert Goldsmith, Commissioner.
It was moved by Secretary Shapiro and seconded by Commissioner Goldsmith that the
minutes of the January 14, 2001 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board
dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was moved upon by acclamation
whereupon Chairman Bantner declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
The following invoices were presented for payment:
1. Peter A. Felice &Associates, Invoice 569 dated 01126/01 in the amount
of$160.00—Retainer fee for January 2001.
2. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice 2025 dated 01/16/01 —Billingfor
administration of 85 written examinations for police officer candidates.
3. Dr. Boyajian—Invoice dated 1/11/01 in the amount of$495.00for pre-
employment medical examination offirefighter candidate.
4. Daily Herald—Invoice T2507094 for$21.76(meeting notice) and
Invoice T2508161 for$93.56 (legal notice for police officer
examination).
5. Chicago Tribune—Invoice 819432001 for$1089.00—Classified
advertising for police officer written examination.
6. Rockford Register Star—Invoice 165 068for$571.38—Classified
advertisingfor police officer written examination.
7. Spanish American Newspapers—Invoice R12290001 for $193.00—
Classified advertising for police officer written examination.
8. Courier News—Invoice 062794 for$205.80—Classified advertising for
police officer written examination.
9. Theodore Polygraph Service—Invoice 12898 for$100.00—Polygraph
examination forf:refighter candidate Cloud.
10. Daily Herald—Invoice T2524099 for$20.67-Legal Notice of Meeting
Change for February 2001.
It was moved by Dr. Shapiro and seconded by Bob Goldsmith that the Board authorize
the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation
whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.

EXECUTIVE SESSION
1. Discuss Fire Lieutenants examination
2. Dr. Mendelsohn will be present to discuss the results of the written
examinations administered on January 14, 2001.
3. Schedule final probationary review date for three firefighters hired on
4/3/00.
4. Deputy Chief Clark was present to discuss fire department openings,
scheduling offirefighter orientation and written examination.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Copy of Police Department Publication, The Beat Goes On, January
2001 edition attached
2. Copy of memo sent to Chief MacArthur with copy of Lt. Examination
Fact Sheet, Study List and Expert Review Panel Sheets.
3. Copy of Notification of Lieutenants Examination sent to all department
heads.
4. Copy of Legal Notice for Fire Lieutenant Examination sent to Daily
Herald for publication on 318101.
5. Copy of response memo sent to firefighter that requested to review
their personnel file.
6. Copy of memo from Chief MacArthur requesting that we schedule a
firefighter orientation and examination since current eligibility list will
expire on 812/01.
7, Copy of memo to Village Manager requesting Internet access and e-
mail capabilityfor secretary to the FIP Commission.
8. Copy of letter sent to 50 candidates that did not pass the written police
officer examination on 1114/01.
9. Copy of letter sent to 35 candidates that did pass the written police
officer examination on 1/14101.
10. Copy of letter from Chief Schmidt to police officer wife thanking her
for herpresentation on orientation night.

ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Chairman Bantner and seconded by Dr. Shapiro that the meeting be
adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner
declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 11:00 p.m.
