HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 06/19/2001 - CC: Village k MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON NNE 19,2001 Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the following were present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Commissioner H. Robert Goldsmith, and Dr. Alan J. Shapiro, Secretary. It was moved by Secretary Shapiro and seconded by Commissioner Goldsmith that the minutes of the May 15, 2001 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was moved upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES The following invoices were presented for payment: 1. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice 2179 dated 6/8/01 in the amount of $471.00 for multiple interview assessments for(23)fire lieutenant candidates. 2. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice 2184 dated 6/12/01 in the amount of $1500.00 for psychological evaluations for two police candidates and one firefighter candidate. 3. McCorkle Court Reporters, Inc. —Invoice 350855 dated 4/23/01 in the amount of$162 75 for recording services at the 4/16/01 police officer suspension appeal hearing. 4. The Clinic—Invoice dated 6/1/01 in the amount of$1485.00 for pre- employment medical examinations for three police candidates. 5. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice 2163 dated 5/24/01 in the amount of $200.00 for psychological evaluation for a police candidate (shared results). 6. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice 2154 dated 5/17/01 in the amount of $500.00 for psychological evaluation for a police candidate. 7. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice 2156 dated 5/18/01 in the amount of $500.00 for psychological evaluation for a police candidate. 8. Theodore Polygraph Service—Invoice 13031 dated 5/30/01 in the amount of$600.00 for polygraph examinations for six police candidates. 9. Corporate Express—Invoice 23661914 dated 5/29/01 in the amount of $19.58 for office supplies. 10. Peter A. Felice &Associates, Invoice 616 dated 6/1/01 in the amount of $160.00—Retainer fee for May 2001. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. EXECUTIVE SESSION 1. Individual Oral Interview for one police officer candidate. 2. Conducted Final Probationary Reviews for four police off icers. 3. Multiple Oral Interviews for 19 firefighter candidates. 4. Discussed hiring schedule for firefighter candidates. CORRESPONDENCE 1. Copy of resignation letter from probationary police officer. 2. Copy of letterftom Chief Schmidt requesting promotion of Police Officer to the position of Sergeant effective May 28, 2001. 3. Copy of appointment letter sent to Sergeant. 4. Copy of letterfrom John E. Reid&Associates soliciting polygraph business. 5. Copy of thankyou memo to Chief MacArthurfor new fire department personnel board. 6. Copy of retirement announcement letter from Firefighter effective May 30, 2001. 7. Copy of retirement announcement letter from Firefighter effective June 9, 2001. 8. Copy of constructive comments/criticisms for(4)four probationary police officersfor their final probationary reviews. 9. Copy of letter from police candidate withdrawing from our hiring process. 10. Copy of voice message text from police candidate requesting that we bypass his name on our eligibility list. 11. Copies of appointment letters sent to three Police Officers. 12. Copy of Police Corp. Academy article. 13. Copy of resignation letter from firefighter effective 5/29/2001. 14. Copy of congratulations letter sent to retiring firefighter. 15. Copy of written reprimand issued to a Police Off cer for violating Rules of Conduct, Rule 5, Failure to perform a duty, and Rule ll, Inefficiency in the performance of a duty. FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS Page Three June 19,2001 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING PENDING 1. Police Officer Hiring Process— Continuing—two present police officer openings. 2. Firefighter Hiring Process —46 candidates passed the Physical Ability Test administered on June 9, 2001 and are eligible to participate in the multiple oral interviews scheduled to take place on June 19/20/26, 2001; three present firefighter openings. 3. Fire Lieutenant Multiple Oral Interviews took place on June S, 2001. Individual interviews to be scheduled at a later date. NEW BUSINESS ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Secretary Shapiro and seconded Commissioner Goldsmith that the meeting be adjourned.
