OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON AUGUST 21,2001 F
Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek
Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the
following were present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Commissioner H. Robert
Goldsmith, and Dr. Alan J. Shapiro, Secretary.
It was moved by Secretary Shapiro and seconded by Commissioner Goldsmith that the
minutes of the July 17, 2001 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board
dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was moved upon by acclamation
whereupon Chairman Bantner declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
The following invoices were presented for payment:
1. Police Consultants—$500.00—Invoice 2253 dated 8/06/01 for psychological
evaluation of one police officer candidate.
2. Police Consultants - $500.00—Invoice 2244 dated 07/30/01 for psychological
evaluation of one police officer candidate.
3. Theodore Polygraph Service—$400.00- Invoice 13071 dated 7/13/01 for
polygraph examinations for four firefighter candidates.
4. Theodore Polygraph Service—$400.00-Invoice 13105 dated 7/31/01 for
polygraph examinations for four firefighter candidates.
5. Corporate Express—Invoice 6701295-001 dated 8/26/99 in the amount of
$49.18 for office supplies.
6. The Clinic/Dr. Boyajian—Invoice dated 08/09/01 - $495.00—Preemployment
medical examination for one police candidate.
7. Police Consultants - $1000.00—Invoice 2270 dated 8/17/01 for psychological
evaluations for two firefighter candidates.
8. Theodore Polygraph Service - $300.00—Invoice 13131 dated 8,115//01 for
polygraph examinations for three firefighter candidates.
It was moved by Secretary Shapiro and seconded by Commissioner Goldsmith that the
Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
1. Conducted individual oral interviews for firefighter candidates.
�. Meeting with Chief Schmidt to discuss police officer and police sergeant
testing schedules.

CORRESPONDENCE
1. Copy of letter from Chief MacArthur announcing the promotion of Fire
Captain to the position of Deputy Fire Chief/Operations effective July 30,
2001.
2. Copy of letter from Illinois Fire &Police Commissioners Association
requesting your comments concerning the enclosed proposed bill.
3. Copy of letter sent to Peter Felice requesting his review of the draft of our
response to IFPCA.
4. Copy of letter from Police Officer announcing his resignation effective August
19, 2001.
5. Copy of letter from Asst. Fire Chief announcing his resignation effective
August 24, 2001.
6. Copy of retirement congratulations letter to Assistant Fire Chief.
7. Copy of letter from Chief MacArthur concerning information relating to a
firefighter candidate on our eligibility list.
PENDIN
1. Police Officer Hiring Process—Continuing—two present police officer
openings.
2. Firefighter Hiring Process —Continuing—six present openings.
3. Fire Lieutenant Process—nearing completion.
NEW BUSINESS
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Secretary Shapiro and seconded Commissioner Goldsmith that the
meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman
Bantner declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 11:45 p.m.
