OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON JANUARY 22, 2002
Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek
Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the
following were present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Secretary Alan J. Shapiro, and
Commissioner H. Robert Goldsmith.
It was moved by Commissioner Goldsmith and seconded by Chairman Bantner that the
minutes of December 18, 2001 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board
dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was moved upon by acclamation
whereupon Chairman Bantner declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
The following invoices were presented for payment:
1. Police Consultants—Invoice 2447 dated 1/11/02 in the amount of
$500.00 for psychological examination offrrefighter candidate.
2. Peter A. Felice &Associates—Invoice 673 dated 1/1/02 in the amount
of$160.00—December 2001 retainer fee.
3. Charles Boyajian, MD. —Invoice dated 12/18/01 in the amount of
$495.00 for pre-employment physical for firefighter candidate.
4. Charles Boyajian, MD. —Invoice dated 1/11/02 in the amount of
$495.00 for pre-employment physical for firefighter candidate.
5. Theodore Polygraph Service—Invoice 13297 dated 12/20/01 in the
amount of$200.00 for polygraph examinations for two police officer
candidates.
6. Unishippers—Invoice 365071 dated 12/15/01 in the amount of $38.14
for overnight delivery of legal documents.
It was moved by Secretary Shapiro and seconded by Commissioner Goldsmith that the
Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
1. Conduct Individual Oral Interviews for seven police officer candidates.
2. Discussed schedule for Police Sergeant Examination.

CORRESPONDENCE
1. Copy of Police Department Publication, "The Beat Goes On, "
November and December 2001 edition.
2. Copy of appointment letter issued to firefighter effective February 11,
2002.
3. Copy of letter to firefighter candidate Howard Murray requesting that
he contact Dr. Boyajian to schedule a re-evaluation medical
appointment due to his recent injury.
4. Copy of Written Reprimand issued to Police Officer for violating
Section 26.1.IA, Rules of Conduct, Violation of Department General
Order (for failure to communicate short pursuit and traffic stop with
dispatch).
5. Copy of Written Reprimand issued to Police Officer for violating
Section 26.I.IA, Rules of Conduct, Rule 46(failure to operate village
vehicle in a safe and prudent manner or to obey related traffic laws).
6. Copy of the notification of the rescheduling of the General Meeting of
the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners from January 15, 2002 to
January 22, 2002.
7. Copy of memo from Deputy Chief Michael Lebert concerning new pre-
employment contact card for the purpose of recruiting police officer
candidates.
8. Copy of appointment letter issued to Firefighter effective February 11,
2002.
9. Copy of resignation letter effective February 4, 2002 from probationary
firefighter.
PENDING
Police Officer Hiring Process— two present openings.
Firefighter Hiring Process—continuing—two appointments effective
2/11102 plus two other openings pending psychological and medical
exams.

NEW BUSINESS
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Chairman Bantner and seconded Secretary Shapiro that the meeting be
adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner
declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 12:20 a.m.
