Zettek Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the following were present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner and Commissioner H. Robert Goldsmith. It was moved by Commissioner Goldsmith and seconded by Chairman Bantner that the minutes of January 22, 2002 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was moved upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES The following invoices were presented for payment: 1. Police Consultants—Invoice 2460 dated 1/30/02 in the amount of $1,500.00for psychological examination offirefighter candidate and two police candidates. 2. Peter A. Felice &Associates—Invoice 681 dated 2/1/02 in the amount of$160.00—January 2002 retainer fee. 3. Charles Boyajian, MD. —Invoice dated 2/4/02 in the amount of $495.00 for pre-employment physical for firefighter candidate. 4. Charles Boyajian, MD. —Invoice dated 1/28/02 in the amount of $495.00 for pre-employment physical for firefighter candidate. It was moved by Commissioner Goldsmith and seconded by Chairman Bantner that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. EXECUTIVE SESSION 1. Conduct six-month probationary reviews for three police officers. 2. Meeting with Deputy Chief Hammar to discuss scheduling of next police exam and hiring process. MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS Page Two February 19,2002 CORRESPONDENCE 1. Copy of Fact Sheet for Police Sergeant Examination. 2. Copy of Suspension Notice issued to Police Officer for violating Section 26.1.IA, Rules of Conduct, Rule 49. Failure to appear in court when required or scheduled. 3. Copy of certified letter to firefighter candidate requesting that he submit his withdrawal from our hiring process in writing. 4. Copy of memo to Chief Schmidt requesting constructive comments/criticisms for six-month probationary reviews for three police officers. 5. Copy of constructive comments/criticisms for six months probationary reviews. 6. Copy of memo from Chief Schmidt to Village Manager concerning assignment of police officer to the United States Customs Service Office of Investigations Regional Task Force; notation from VMplacing position on hold 7. Copy of new Police Contract dated January 8, 2002. 8. Copy of appointment letter issued to firefighter. 9. Copy of letter from Northwest Municipal Conference dated 1/31/02 regarding HB 1689,firefighter promotion legislation. 10. Copy of appointment letter issued to Firefighter. 11. Copy of memo from Chief Schmidt to Village Manager requesting authorization to hire an additional police officer. 12. Copy of letter from Mayor Johnson to Senators Jones, Philip, Sullivan and Representatives Wojcik, Parke and Krause stating his opposition to HB 1689 and SB 718. 13. Copy of letter from Peter Justen concerning HB 1689 and SB 718. PENDING Police Officer Hiring Process—two present openings. Firefighter Hiring Process—no openings. MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS Page Three February 19, 2002 NEW BUSINESS ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Chairman Bantner and seconded Commissioner Goldsmith that the meeting be adjourned.
