M TES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON MARCH 19, 2002
Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek
Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the
following were present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Commissioner H. Robert
Goldsmith, and Secretary Alan J. Shapiro, DDS.
It was moved by Commissioner Goldsmith and seconded by Secretary Shapiro that the
minutes of February 19, 2002 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board
dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was moved upon by acclamation
whereupon Chairman Bantner declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
The following invoices were presented for payment:
1. Police Consultants—Invoice 2482 dated 2/27/02 in the amount of
$500.00 for psychological examination of police officer candidate.
2. Peter A. Felice &Associates—Invoice 688 dated 3/1/02 in the amount
of$160.00—February 2002 retainer fee.
3. Charles Boyajian, MD. —Invoice dated 3/1/02 in the amount of
$495.00 for pre-employment physical for police officer candidate.
4. Police Consultants—Invoice 2506 dated 3/14/02 in the amount of
$500.00 for psychological examination of police officer candidate.
It was moved by Commissioner Goldsmith and seconded by Chairman Bantner that the
Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
1. Meeting with Chief Schmidt, Deputy Chief Hammar and Deputy Chief Lebert to
discuss upcoming police orientation/examination.
2. Meeting with Deputy Chief David Miller to discuss scheduling of probationary
reviews for five firefighters.

CORRESPONDENCE
1. Copy of E-mail from Deputy Chief Hammar concerning police sergeant
testing process and police officer testing process.
2. Copy of memo from Chief Schmidt advising that police officer
submitted a letter of resignation effective February 27, 2002; copy of
Officer's letter dated February 26, 2002.
3. Copy of notification of police officer examination to all department
heads.
4. Copy of letter sent to senators and representatives urging opposition to
SB 718 and HB 1689.
5. Copy of letter from Mayor Johnson to Senator Philip concerning the
amendment of HB 1689.
6. Copy of appointment letter sent to Police Officer.
PENDING
Police Officer Hiring Process—two present openings; current eligibility
list is exhausted..
Firefighter Hiring Process—no openings.
NEW BUSINESS
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Chairman Bantner and seconded Commissioner Goldsmith that the
meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman
Bantner declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
