HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 04/16/2002 - '=t`EIVED c: '�fiage f'tertc MAY 2 8 2002 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING I;ILLAGE GLERK'S OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON APRIL 16,2002 Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the following were present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Commissioner H. Robert Goldsmith, and Secretary Alan J. Shapiro, DDS. It was moved by Commissioner Goldsmith and seconded by Secretary Shapiro that the minutes of March 19, 2002 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was moved upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES The following invoices were presented for payment: 1. Peter A. Felice &Associates—Invoice 697 dated 4/1/02 in the amount of$160.00—March 2002 retainer fee. 2. Daily Herald—Invoice T2766902 dated 3/30/02 in the amount of $30.16—Legal Notice for Police Sergeants Exam. 3. Daily Herald—Invoice T2766909 dated 3/30/02 in the amount of $96.28—Legal Notice for Police Officer Entry Examination. 4. Daily Herald—Invoice T2766936 dated 3/31/02 in the amount of $711.00—Classified Ad for Police Officer Orientation/Entry Examination. 5. Rockford Register Star—Invoice 316697 dated 4/7/02 in the amount of $361.25 - Classified Ad for Police Officer Orientation/Entry Examination. 6. Theodore Polygraph—Invoice 13437 dated 4/5/02 in the amount of $200.00—Polygraph examinations for firefighter candidates Dedo and Gary. 7. Spanish American Newspaper—Invoice 34373 dated 4/7/02 in the amount of$306.00—Classified Ad for Police Officer Orientation/Entry Examination. It was moved by Commissioner Goldsmith and seconded by Chairman Bantner that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried. EXECUTIVE SESSION 1. Six-month probationary reviews for three firefighters. 2. Police Sergeants Examination CORRESPONDENCE 1. Copy of written reprimand issued to police officerfor violating Section 26.1.IA, Rules of Conduct, Rule 10 (failure to remain awake on duty). 2. Copy of letter to police candidate advising that he did not pass his psychological examination. 3. Copy of excerpt from Fire Union publication concerning the Union's position on HB1689. 4. Memo to Chief MacArthur requesting comments/constructive criticism for the final probationary reviews of two firefighters. 5. Memo to two firefighters advising them to report for their final probationary review on Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at 7:45 p.m. 6. Memo to Chief MacArthur requesting comments/constructive criticism for the six month probationary reviews of three firefighters. 7. Memo to three firefighters advising them to report for their six-month probationary review on Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. 8. Memos from Chief MacArthur in response to our request for comments/constructive critcism for probationaryfirefighters scheduled for their six month review. 9. Copy ofAgreement between Local 2340 and the Village of Elk Grove Village to extend the probationary period offiref:ghter to October 15, 2002. 10. Copy ofAgreement between the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners and Firefighter to extend his probationary period by six months (until October 16, 2002). 11. Copy of resignation letter from firefighter effective April 28, 2002. PENDING Police Officer Hiring Process—two present openings. Firefighter Hiring Process—one opening.
