HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 05/21/2002 - c: Village Clerk MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING RECEIVED OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS JUN 18 2002 OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON MAY 21, 2002 VI1IAGE CLERK'S OFFICE Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the following were present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Commissioner H. Robert Goldsmith, and Secretary Alan J. Shapiro, DDS. It was moved by Commissioner Goldsmith and seconded by Secretary Shapiro that the minutes of April 16, 2002 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was moved upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES The following invoices were presented for payment: 1. Peter A. Felice & Associates—Invoice 705 dated 5/1/02 in the amount of$160.00 for April 2002 retainer fee. 2. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice 2526 dated 4/16/02 in the amount of $3,770.00—Police Officer Written Examination Administration Fees. 3. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice 2529 dated 4/18/02 in the amount of $2511.00—Police Sergeant Written Examination Administration Fees. 4. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice 2533 dated 4/24/02 in the amount of $1000.00—Psychological Examination for two firefighter candidates. 5. Dr. Charles Boyajian—Invoice 5/02/02 in the amount of 990.00— Medical Examinations for two firefighter candidates. 6. Chicago Tribune—Invoice 626127001 dated 4/30/02 in the amount of $1631.00 —Classified Ad for Police Officer Orientation/Entry Examination. 7. Suburban Chicago Newspapers (Courier News) —Invoice 493767 dated 4/30/02 in the amount of$111.21 - Classified Ad for Police Officer Orientation/Entry Examination. 8. Corporate Express—Invoice 32883069 dated 05/15/02 in the amount of$121.20 for office supplies. 9. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice 2548 dated 5/17/02 in the amount of $331.00 for multiple interview assessments for the Sergeant's Promotional Process. It was moved by Commissioner Goldsmith and seconded by Chairman Bantner that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. Individual Oral Interview for firefighter candidate. 2. Multiple Group Interviews for police officer candidates. 3. Meeting with D/C Miller concerning scheduling of firefighter entry exam. CORRESPONDENCE 1. Copy of memo to Chief Schmidt advising the schedule of Police Sergeant Multiple Oral Interviews on 5/14/02. 2. Copy of memo to Chief Schmidt requesting constructive comments/criticisms of probationary police officer for his six-month probationary review. 3. Copy of memo to probationary officer advising him to report for his probationary review. 4. Copy of memo from Chief Schmidt advising of police sergeant's retirement effective 5/3/02. Copy of Sergeant's notification to FPC and copy of FPC's congratulations letter. 5. Copy of memo from Deputy Chief Miller advising firefighter's intention to resign. Copy of firefighter's written notification to FPC announcing resignation effective 4/28/02. 6. Copy of letter from FPC to R. Olson advising the extension of probationary period for firefighter. 7. Copy of letter from FPC to R. Olson advising the completion of probationary period for firefighter. 8. Copy of memo from Chief MacArthur to Village Manager requesting approval for FPC to immediately process two candidates for firefighter openings. 9. Copy of memos from twelve police sergeant candidates requesting their individual results for the police sergeants examination taken on 4/16/02. 10. Copy of memos to twelve police sergeant candidates advising their individual scores for the police sergeant's examination taken on 4/16/02. 11. Copy of postcard from Senator Wendell Jones acknowledging receipt of FPC letter concerning S13718. 12. Copy of Chief MacArthur's memo advising retirement notification from firefighter effective May 10, 2002. Copy of firefighter's retirement announcement letter. Copy of Chief MacArthur's congratulations letter to firefighter and copy of FPC retirement congratulations letter. Copy of response memo from Chief Schmidt concerning constructive comments/criticisms for a police officer six-month probationary review. 14. Memo from Police Sergeant Candidate advising his withdrawal from the promotional process due to his inability to be present for his multiple group interview. 15. Copy of Affidavit of Dr. Alan Shapiro dated May 21, 2002 pertaining to Quinn, Hall, McVeigh v. EGV. 16. Copy of Firefighter `s retirement notification letter, Chief s memo advising FPC, copy of Chief s congratulations letter and copy of FPC congratulations letter. 17. Copy of appointment letters to two new firefighters. 18. Copy of memo advising police officer of his rescheduled six-month probationary review. 19. Copy of memo from Chief MacArthur detailing the Corrective Action Plan for firefighter. 20. Copy of Notice to Police Sergeant candidates concerning individual results for the police sergeant's promotional process. 21. Copy of firefighter retirement notification letter, Chief s memo advising FPC, copy of Chief s congratulations letter and copy of FPC congratulations letter. 22. Copy of letter from Chief MacArthur requesting new firefighter examination. 23. Copy of letter from sergeant candidate notifying FPC of his vacation schedule so as not to conflict with the individual oral interviews for the sergeant's promotional process. 24. Copy of Affidavit dated 5/21/02 and signed by Dr. Shapiro concerning the fire lieutenant's testing process. PENDING Police Officer Hiring Process—two present openings. Firefighter Hiring Process—two positions filled, two new openings. Police Sergeants Multiple Group Interview Results.
