MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON AUGUST 20,2002
Chairman Bantner called the meeting to order at 3:45 p.m in the Charles J. Zettek Building,
901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village and noted for the record that the following were
present: Chairman Gayle B. Bantner, Commissioner H. Robert Goldsmith, and Secretary
Alan J. Shapiro, DDS.
It was moved by Commissioner Goldsmith and seconded by Secretary Shapiro that the
minutes of July 30, 2002 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with
the reading thereof. The motion was moved upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman
Bantner declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
The following invoices were presented for payment:
1. Peter A. Felice &Associates—Invoice 735 dated 8/1/02 in the amount of
$160.00 for July 2002 retainer fee.
2. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice 2621 dated 8/7/02 in the amount of
$500.00 for psychological examination of police candidate.
3. Police Consultants, Inc. —Invoice 2624 dated 8/14/02 in the amount of
$500.00 for psychological examination of police candidate.
It was moved by Commissioner Goldsmith and seconded by Chairman Bantner that the
Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
EXECUTIVE SESSION - (Closed session minutes recorded).
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Memo to Human Resources Officer advising that probationary police officer
has satisfactorily completed the probationary period.
2. Memos from Chief MacArthur regarding the July monthly evaluation reports
for two probationaryfirefighters.
3. Memos from Chief MacArthur regarding the performance of four probationary
firefighters.
4. Memo from Chief MacArthur regarding the performance of probationary
firefighter.

S. Memo from Chief Schmidt regarding the performance of probationary police
officers.
6. Memo from Chief MacArthur dated 7/31/02 requesting a response to his prior
letter regarding a new firefighter testing process.
7. Memo to Village Manager regarding status of new firefighter testing process
and hiring status for police openings.
8. Execution of Affidavits as requested by Seyfarth, Shaw &Associates.

NEW BUSINESS
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Chairman Bantner and seconded Commissioner Goldsmith that the meeting
be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Bantner
declared the motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
