Benoit, Chicago Tribune ANTIQUE CAR DISPLAY The consensus of the Committee was as follows: • to approve the request to hold an antique car show at Shawnway Plaza on Saturdays from June to September 1999; • to direct the organizer of the car show to have participants display insurance cards in the cars' windows; • to direct staff to contact business owners and the Police Department in September to determine if the event created any complaints; and • to revisit the issue later in the year to determine if the event has any negative impact on the community. STATE GIFT BAN ACT After a presentation from the Village Attorney about the State's mandate to establish an ethics commission, the consensus of the Committee was to direct the Village Attorney to research the issue further and continue discussion at a later date. REFUNDING OF OUTSTANDING BONDS The consensus of the Committee was to approve refunding of outstanding 1992 General obligation bonds to take advantage of lower interest rates. This item will be adopted as New Business at the June 22 Village Board meeting. SPECIAL O'HARE NEWSLETTER The consensus of the Committee was as follows: • to approve the newsletter with the exception of one article and some minor changes; and • to have the newsletter distributed to both residents and businesses. OAKTON STREET TRAINING FACILITY The consensus of the Committee was to approve the requested increase to the Capital Improvements Fund and to direct staff to present the bids for their review at the next meeting. President Johnson noted that State Representative Wendell Jones promised state funds would be made available to contribute to this project. This item will appear on the July 13 Village Board agenda. EXECUTIVE SESSION SCHEDULED The Village Board scheduled an Executive Session to discuss the interview process for the new Police Chief for 6:00 p.m. , on Tuesday, July 13.
