Pursuant to a duly made and approved motion and a majority vote at a regularly
scheduled meeting of the Village President and Board of Trustees on October 9, 2001,
this Executive Session was called to consider a Personnel matter.

Personnel
The Village Manager reported that five promotions are needed to fill
vacancies in the Fire Department. Two Lieutenants will be promoted to
Fire Captain: Al Vrshek and Bob Stecki. Both lieutenants are completing
Bachelor degrees and have significant experience in the department and are
recommended by the Fire Chief and Deputy Chief.
E There are also 3 Lieutenant positions that are being filled from the new
Lieutenants list. The Union has filed a grievance, a request to the Fire &
Police Commission, and an Administrative Relief proceeding through the
Court system to have the list declared invalid. The promotions will proceed
regardless of the objections of the Union to the validity of the list.
