LAND DISPOSITION
The Mayor updated the Village Board on the General Assembly's recent permit
denial to SWANCC. The Mayor reminded the Board that approximately$30 million has
been invested in the balefill project and transfer station to date. The Mayor reported that
he has had conversations with several State legislators about negotiating a State purchase
of the land in Bartlett. The benefits would include relief of the agency's debt and a repeal
of the SWANCC tax on Elk Grove business. He noted the consortium should stay intact
to continue realizing cost savings for member municipalities.
The Mayor will attend the May 9'meeting of SWANCC to discuss this matter
and recommend a$21 million settlement offer.
The meeting adjourned at 6:24 p.m.
