Commonwealth Edison noted that overhead lines are the standard installation. The electrical lines are 12, 000 volt cables. Tree trimming is estimated to cost $10, 000 and is done every 4-5 years. Should the Village decide to underground the electrical lines, Commonwealth Edison will hold off on the tree trimming. Consensus of the Village Board was to pursue the undergrounding of the electrical lines. The Board further requested Staff to refine the project costs, look at potential construction savings (i.e. : open cut, use of northside of Cosman for undergrounding, restoration) , value of construction benefiting the two unincorporated properties on Cosman, and the availability of CPF and other funding sources.
