BOSTON MARKET AWNING REVIEW
The Committee held considerable discussion regarding the awning
material and intensity of the back-lit lighting being proposed by Boston
Market. Discussion ensued regarding the Boston Market franchises in
Gurnee and Waukegan. Boston Market's representatives stated that the
proposed awning in Elk Grove was identical to the Gurnee and Waukegan
franchises. Further discussion ensued regarding Boston Market's ability
to reduce the lighting in the awning if the Village finds it to be
objectionable. Upon discussion, the consensus of the Committee was as
follows:
• to tentatively approve the proposed signage subject to the
confirmation of the awning and lighting materials at the Gurnee
and Waukegan stores;
• to authorize the issuance of sign permits for Boston Market at
their risk with the understanding that the sign must be removed or
lighting reduced if the proposed materials differ from the
Waukegan and/or Gurnee stores; and
• to have staff investigate the Gurnee and Waukegan awning material
and report back to the Village Board
