Several concerns originating from the audience with respect to
the ordinance were:
1 . The Ordinance doesn 't allow a person to discharge a
firearm in their home for self-defense;
2 . Can a private person (non-commercial entity or non-gun
dealer) sell a handgun in the Village under the
ordinance;
3. Does the prohibition against selling guns in the Village
amount to a constitutional "taking" of property for
which the Village must recompense the owner;
4 . How will the place of sale be verified;
5. Does an Olympic air rifle fall under the definition of
a BB/pellet gun;
6. Mini vans and sport utility vehicles do not have
carrying compartments outside of the passenger
compartment .
The consensus of the Committee was to discuss the ordinance
further at the January 25 Committee of the whole Meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 9 :20 p.m.
