Johnson, Village Trustee P. Rettberg, Village Trustee N. Czarnik, Village Trustee M. Tosto, Village Trustee R. Chernick, Village Trustee Staff: G. Parrin, Village Manager R. Rummel, Assistant Village Manager R. Farrell, Administrative Assistant T. Cech, Director of Public Works D. Olson, Personnel Officer Reporters : B. Connelly, ELK GROVE TIMES JAWA PRESENTATION The Village Manager presented alternative means to receiving an emergency water supply should JAWA 'S facilities fail . The Village Manager noted that providing emergency connections with the Dupage Water Commission and Northwest Water Commissions would be costly and born solely by JAWA as the connection would be one-way. These Commissions are not interested in a two-way connection that would also benefit their communities. it was also considered to add a parallel line with a pump station or a 48-inch line, however, we would still be relying on receiving water from the same source. Given these alternatives, the Village Manager recommended looking at providing the Village with emergency interconnects with Arlington Heights, Des Plaines and Roselle, in addition to our other emergency interconnects with Schaumburg and Bensenville. In addition, our seven remaining wells are capable of providing a safe supply of water in case of an emergency. The Village Manager noted that cathodic protection is being provided for the main 90" JAWA line. The consensus of the Committee was as follows: -- Approach Arlington Heights, Des Plaines and Roselle about entering into a study of providing an interconnect for emergency water supply. Request that these communities share equally the cost of the study. Arlington Heights must be approached immediately due to the construction schedule of the full interchange at the Northwest Tollway. - z - -- Have Public Works test all interconnects on a regular basis; and -- Have Staff report back to the Village Board on their findings. J. F. KENNEDY BOULEVARD VOLUNTARY PARKING RESTRICTIONS ' MASS MAILING The consensus of the Committee was to approve the mass mailing to certain residents on J. F. Kennedy Boulevard.
