Patrick Briggs' Presentation to the Village Board
Chairman Briggs expressed his thanks for the opportunity to
present the Board of Health goals and objective statement to
the Village Board.
The Board of Health and the Health Department have always
enjoyed a good working relationship in the past and will
continue to keep abreast of the Public Health needs of the
community.
Chairman Briggs stated that the Health Department will
continue its current programs but will also explore a new
direction in the area of personal health care. A possible
joint effort between the Village and Alexian Brothers may be
able to enhance wellness, meet unmet needs and find those that
are unable to access medical care.
Chairman Briggs stated there is a meeting scheduled for
October 18, 1993, with ABMC to discuss new programs that we
could do on a joint basis, i.e. school physicals, prenatal
care for the medically indigent, health care support for the
homeless ( PADS program) to name a few. In addition, ABMC is
planning to do an assessment of the community, which will be
complete in about a year. A question raised by Trustee
Johnson was a concern about duplication of services. He was
assured this would be carefully monitored.
The consensus of the Village Board was to have the Board of
Health pursue the needs assessment and make recommendations
based on the outcome of the assessment.
